The TV Thread redux

It’s really not. It is much much harder though when there isnt a great reason to tell this part of the story other than to commercially exploit a connection to an existing popular franchise with already developed character and story and does so with a excessive focus on perceived fan service.

Jack Reacher is good fun so far, can’t take it too seriously but ideal!

Yeah, I enjoyed it for what it is as well. A bit trashy, but then I don’t mind that if I’m in the mood for something less challenging.

On a similar note I’m quite enjoying Justified atm!

Breaking from True Detective. Started on Stranger Things. It’s like a John Hughes/Spielberg mash up of 1970s/80s nostalgia. Excellent.

Yeah, S1 the strongest, took a dip in S2 imo, S3 a bit better but S4 is a belter thus far!

yes well thats probably true regarding the holes, but there really isnt a great deal of holes in the Obi Wan season as yet, bit of tacky stuff, maybe even stretching the imagination stuff (Ben being such a hermit he knows nothing of lord Vader etc), but its not Boba Fett or GOT (7-8) bad.

as for this series being just a comercial venture with no real reason to tell the story, i disagree, beyond the obvious need for it to be a commercial success and Lucasfilms requirements to turn a dollar, im actually truely interested in the story of Ben becoming a hermit, its really on a hiding to nothing… the Obi wan we know as general Obi Wan was so powerful and such a force for good, he is obviously going to be compromised having to sit in a cave and watch a kid grow from a distance whilst his ex colleagues try to establish a rebel alliance…

i am particularily looking forward to the story arc around Maul finding him

Looks like The Orville S3 just started screening on Disney+, looking forward to diving into that

I don’t remember the plotline for that one.

I think I was getting that series confused with a season of The Sinner that Jessica Biel starred in, with Bill Pullman.

I take it you’ve not watched anything on All4…

I’d forgotten about The Sinner. How many series have there been now? I think we’d watched three? :nerd_face:

may be four of them.

Cheers. :+1::nerd_face:

For fans of The Wire- We Own This City is great. It’s a true story (no idea how much it’s ‘hollywoodized’) about a specialty unit of Baltimore cops. I really enjoyed it. I didn’t realize it was based on a true story until the end.
