One of my close friendâs younger brother suddenly started doing this. We were like âSam whatâs wrong with your voice!â He was like âwhy nothing itâs always been like thisâ
Sadly itâs a bit shiteâŚ
Still one of the greatest shows ever made.
Seinfeld has nothing on Cheers.
Please donât. Itâs absolute trash.
Imagine that but in a black turtle neck and an even deeper voice and its not far off.
Please donât. Itâs absolute trash.
Thanks
The Rehearsal - 10/10
I think this show makes a lot more sense once youâve got your bearings by watching Nathan For You - A Hellâs Kitchen style satire by a hopeless business consultant who provides businesses absolutely absurd marketing strategies but delivered in the most earnestly Canadian way imaginable. Itâs awkward, itâs weird, but itâs funny as shit. It was genuinely one of the cleverest things on TV in the past decade, and really strange that it had such a small following.
The rehearsal is that taken up to 11. The premise is that Nathan has developed an approach of rehersing for important life events as a way of dealing with his social anxiety and the realization that people donât particularly like him. This show is about using this approach to help people prepare for various important life events. Just like Nathan For You, the premise seems simple, but just describing i cannot come close to the absurd, often uncomfortable experience of watching it play out.
A fall out tv show with Walton Goggins you sayâŚ
And Kyle MacLachlan
Absolutely no expectations.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Breeders is a good laugh.
Can totally relate to Paul as the rageful father.
I just hope that Ron Perlman has a part in this, perhaps as a narrator or something?
Good point, mate! I think that Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are behind the show and I loved the way they tackled Westworld - yes, that includes season 2 and I canât really understand why people didnât like it - meaning that they already have one big dystopian/post-apocalyptic TV show on a significant budget. They know how to pay respect to source material and include pop culture references (quality arrangement and execution of piano and orchestra renditions of Soundgarden, Metallica and Nine Inch Nails on Westworld if you ask me), so I think weâll hear a few bits narrated by Perlman, I can feel it!
Even though Iâm reasonably afraid Iâll jinx it, I canât help but:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I personally have really enjoyed âDark Windsâ on AMC.
At the huge risk of overhyping it, itâs like Twin Peaks, True Detective and a handful of X-Files episodes had a baby and raised it in Westworld.
Itâs actually nowhere near as iconic as any of those shows and the elements of them it has, arenât necessarily the ones you might think it has.
Barebones - itâs a buddy cop procedural, but at six 45 min episodes, if youâre looking for something new, itâs at least worth a look.
Exec producers include Robert Redford and G.R.R Martin (who should be spending his time on writing instead of this!!! even though I liked it)
Jeff Bezos
I am 50% on the edge of my seat excited and 50% terrified theyâre going to fuck it up (already announced theyâre dealing with the challenges of a story that spans 4000 years by condensing it all down)
This series isnât based on any of his published books, right? In that case we donât have anything to compare it with. That could be the saving grace.
In my opinion Lotr works because when you break it down itâs âjustâ the generic hero story - unassuming character with no/or unknown abilities caught up in an adventure, thrust into the worst situation imaginable but ultimately triumphing over evil. Itâs the same story as Star Wars or Harry Potter etc. Itâs accessible to all audiences because itâs a simple story which everyone easily understands. What sets the stories apart is the detail of the worlds they are set in and the characters they meet along the way. Tolkien was the ultimate world builder and turns the simplest story into an epic tale.
From the trailer it looks like Rings of Power is based on the Lotr movie prologue - the threat of Sauron develops, the races of men, elves and dwarves and also wizards unite to stop him, forging the rings of power but are ultimately deceived etc.
My concern that, like the Star Wars prequels or the Fantastic Beasts movies, while there may be some good characters and some cool moments, the story itself will never live up to those which are the reason people like these things in the first place and also we already know the fate of either specific individuals or at least the general outcome of the situation which takes away most of the tension and prevents emotional investment.
If you watch the trailer for Fotr itâs very clearly a story about Frodo, and he has a ring which needs to be destroyed so the bad guy doesnât get it - but with a load of other cool shit and various dangers along the way which will try to stop him.
But from the latest RoP trailer we canât tell who the main character is (if there even is one) perhaps itâs Galadriel but I donât think they actually mention her name. If you arenât familiar with the mythology, it also isnât really clear what the story is.
As I say all these are just âconcernsâ and the final product might be awesome and I hope that is case.
