I’ve heard from a lot of people that they weren’t completely taken by the first series. It was so long ago that I watched it that I don’t really remember how I felt, but the general view is it really finds its feet in the second series.
I came to the realization last night that Apple+ seems to do a terrible job of marketing the shows on its platform. I just finished the Attenborough Dinosaur thing and scrolled through the other shows and other than Ted Lasso and Severance, I hadn’t heard of any of them. I saw a comedy with some people in it I liked (Sam Richardson, Ike Barinholtz) and gave it a shot and was really pleasantly surprised. It’s called The Afterparty. Its a Roshomon style take on an investigation into a death at a high school reunion. Each episode is told from the PoV of one of the characters at the party, but it’s also done in different genres that reflect the personality of the character - Rom Com, Buddy cop, psychological thriller.
As far as I’m concerned, they should go on with these two with full force and cancel all the other shows in Marvel universe. I thought that both were great, so these are good news.
To be honest, I would have probably cancelled my membership by now if I was living on my own. However, my wife likes watching the korean dramas on there and my daughter some of the cartoons.
I like Bae Doona after she appeared in the series Sense8…
So maybe Stranger because not only has it got her in it, but it was also one of the first Korean series I watched…
I’m a comic book nerd, used to collect read from when I was a wee lad, still get the odd paper graphic novel/read series in the iPad.
The superhero genre peaked with Avengers Endgame and as much as I like my childhood characters coming to life, it’s starting to feel like it’s getting a bit much.
The Boys is a refreshing change but even a genius like Feige is struggling to keep the success going.
