Iām calling bullshit, you secretly love this show. You watch it with an erection, Iām sure of it!
Just watched the latest episode. Constantly felt like āok, cool, this has potentialā but then how things actually played out was just kinda dumb imo.
Best episode of Rings of Power so far.
My favorite scene was when Galadriel used the nitrous oxide injection on here horse while chasing Adar.
House of the Dragon episode 7. Another ābest episode so farā.
Deserves the motto āGame of Thronesā more than the whole Game of Thrones series.
Really enjoyed the āmoodā during the whole funeral thing in the first 40 minutes of the episode.
Just started The Shield. Heard it compared to The Wire but it seems a very different vibe so far.
The comparisons are easy to understand, but really only from the superficial aspect of rejecting the ācops are great and keep you safeā type law and order network perspective. Iād consider more of a stepping stone away from that copaganda perspective than a true comparable show. Even though, it isnt even as revolutionary in that respect as it is often portrayed as, considering it was inspired by Simonās earlier Homicide: Life on the Street.
In many ways it is exactly what youād expect of a show of its kind given its home on Fxā¦not quite as rich or honest as an HBO version, but a considerable step up from the syrupy silliness of a Network cop show.
My thought process wentā¦
~ New Lord of the Rings series. Meh. The Hobbit was awful. They wonāt capture the magic of the original trilogy.
~ Oh the manbabies are crying about black elves and women who are handy with a sword. Pricks. Hope this isnāt like Star Wars again, where I ended up being forced to agree with the incel wankers.
~ actually that trailer does look quite good.
~ Now on episode six and actively counting down to Friday for episode seven. Really, really enjoying it.
Any chance you folks could maybe hide the spoilers for those who maybe havenāt quite caught up yet
Spoiler Sauron makes the one ringā¦ One rule to rule them all and in the darkness bind them!
Further spoiler, then a midget tosses it into a volcano. The end
Not the end. The beginning of interminable internet nerd wars about whether Badtoothiel is related to Glumpinius or if Abaloneās sword is mightier than the Staff of Whocaresyall.
There is no endā¦
Spoiler: it is all make believe and none of it is real
Feels like equivalent of your missus telling you āits just a gameā when we get twatted.
But still not as bad as finding out the easter bunny isnāt real
It was the first time it felt like bad, generic TV to me. Something willing to lean on familiar TV tropes. Too many contrivances, too much focus on the main characters going overboard to say āhey, just remember these are the important characters. Arenāt they great!ā Itās not critical, yet, and I did love the cliffhanger (assuming it means what I think it means), but it was the first time for me it felt like it was shooting for a lower common denominator rather than the truly prestige TV it was positioned as. More NCIS than the Wire.
Watching āthe old manā tv show, good so far. 4 episodes in.
No takes on Andor yet? I think that by itself speaks volumes to what has happened to the Star Wars brand.
The first 3 episodes were released at once, and I watched them the evening after they came out, and wasnāt too impressed. Good enough to keep going, but not something I was left waiting eagerly to see the next one.
Havenāt watched it yet or Obi Wan series so I agree the Star Wars brand is not what it once was (at least for me).
I loved the original trilogy. I thought the next trilogy was ok, and the last three movies were about the same or lower than that in quality. Han Solo was very poor. Rogue One was good but not my cup of tea. I havenāt finished Boba Fett but binged the Mandalorian show.
One of the reasons I liked the original Star Wars trilogy is that there was some darkness to them but overall they felt much more fun. There are lots of fun moments from them or quotes to throw about that I donāt seem to get from everything that came after.
