Palace are a bit of a open question with the new guy in charge now, but they have brought in a young Moroccan player who was seemingly a replacement for Anderson already. I would be surprised if they let Guehi go as well just in terms of how big a change it would be, but in terms of numbers it would appear that lad from Wolfburg would cover the loss of Guehi.

I am confused/concerned about the prospects of how thin the group will look if he goes out on loan, but far happier with him spending a year with Lijnders than going to Barca.

I think I would rather he went to Salzburg. He knows what’s what there. Feeder club. Get some experience. Under Lijnders, grow as a player, see some CL action, get plenty of minutes and come back to make your mark at Liverpool.
It will do exactly what we want it to do.
Barcelona, I’m not nearly as sure. Thiago’s involvement might change it, but these days I don’t trust them. Over extended, and I’m not sure how much he will play. I know they have an injury, so he will see some action, but presumably they have so many players around the place that he might not see the minutes he would at Salzburg, which doesn’t help us.
Beyond that, Barcelona is a destination club, especially for a Spanish kid, so there is a sense in which once they get their hooks into him he might not make it back to Liverpool.
