Saudi concern for Al Ahli’s double Osimhen and Toney deal

Latest from Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol:

Senior sources in Saudi Arabia are saying they do not see how it is possible for Al Ahli to sign Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney.

Al Ahli do not have two slots available for two foreign players - unless one of them is Under 21.

Saudi Pro League clubs are allowed 10 foreign players in their 25 player squads.

Sky Sports News also told they don’t need another two strikers and they do not have the budget for both players.

To sign both players Al Ahli would have until Monday night’s midnight SPL deadline to free up a slot by selling a foreign player.

so they have to sell one player

Which they will.

I remember a discussion here about whether Robbo deserved his place back because Gomez had played so well.

I wouldn’t have Tsimi anywhere near the team for big games. I do think we could do with at least one more defender to cover potential injuries

Even better they will change the foreign player quota from 10 to 11. lol

Def a flex move (sky told they dont need two strikers)…They just wanted to mess with chelsea…

Someone like Inacio. A LCB who can double up as a LB. Gomez really played well but offensively his output is lacking

Thoughts of Joao Neves deal to PSG? A 50 million pound deal for a 19 year old international isnt exorbitant. Had PSG not acted early think we would have pinched in. We were after Zubi and it kind of derailed this deal.

Decent fees too even if both will likely end up back in Europe after 12/24 months. Toney for 35-40m is nothing.

Arsenal and Chelsea should have been all over this deal. With Jackson upfront who cant hit a barn door - Chelsea are destined to finish 8th again and they will have to pray Palmer doesnt get injured.

Al Ahli may be close to signing both players but they haven’t got them over the line yet. In fact, they might be able to buy both. Sky Sports is reporting that according Saudi sources it would not be possible.

"There is, however, some doubt over the double deals with senior sources in Saudi Arabia saying they do not see how it is possible for Al Ahli to sign Osimhen and Toney.

Doesn’t matter

Looking at the Al Ahli squad, they only have 8 foreign players in their squad with ASM on loan and Barrow un/de-registered.

& just seen Bobby is the captain over there :man_facepalming:

Toney massively overrated. Will be glad to see Chelsea miss out on Osimhen though!

Everyone goes on about us been short but Arsenal still haven’t addressed there glaring weekness a centre forward and City have sold there back up the Beluga Whale leaving them with just him.

I’d have preferred another CB but we have two players for every position and a coach who has a much better track record of keeping players healthy.

If the argument is this that this squad isn’t good enough, that’s fine if you want to argue that, but to say its not deep enough seems a bit reactionary.

Simakan who we’ve been linked with a bit now also off to Saudi with the Feyenoord lad we were also linked with heading to Leipzig to replace him.
