The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

With such good technique it feels a little odd he’s only scored 20 goals in over 150 games for Lyon…

im sorry, but has he got a body suit on in that clip?

Technique doesn’t necessarily mean a lot of goals. We saw plenty of skilful players who always remained at around 8-10 goals a season at best. Lyon are also having some difficult years, not really competing at the top.

Yeah these kids that would have all these flicks and stuff at school and they were awful in an actual game of football

He is well-known for his dribbling skills, and in my opinion, he’s one of the best. His output and gameplay are similar to Elliott’s, but he is stronger and more skillful. However, like Elliott, he also lacks pace and dynamism. He not be starter material, but he can be a useful wildcard.

I struggle to see him at Liverpool, despite his definite technical quality he has always faced question marks about his workrate.

The comparison I’ve seen, which matches my very limited exposure to him, is that he’s the French Matt Le Tissier.

Yeah but the video shows him firing lots of shots at goal, so it’s like ‘hey look at these cool things I can do, just not in actual games’ lol

He certainly shows some nice touches and variety. But as we’ve seen from similar clips from Nunez or Szobo, they go in far easier in training than in games. When there are no opponents around and you take a few steps between receiving and shooting.

Suarez wasn’t the quickest. Neither was Coutinho or even Messi for that matter.

What they don’t have in the relative lack of pace compared to Mo , two of them atleast more than made up for it in the other facets.

Pretty sure we dropped our interest in Antony when United blew us out of the park with that 85m offer. Bless them.

I suspect and hopeit wasnt to do with money, and entirely to do with the no dickheads policy.

Thats it. All good having a nice touch, but can you do it when you have little time in the PL, and potentially some grock flying in to challenge.

Suspect not.

Cherki might be an opportunistic buy (at some point we might come to dislike that word).

Part of me would be sad for Harvey Elliott, if it reduced his possible time. And I’m also a bit concerned by Cherki’s athleticism. If Szobo represents the running, pressing and stamina in the advanced midfield role, I suppose there is room for more of a skillful lock-picker like Cherki. It will be interesting to see how Slot builds his team.

If this is the case, then what would be the point of spending money on someone who would at best be an incremental upgrade? Or am I misunderstanding what Cherki offers?

Just no. i doubt he is upgrade compared to Elliott. Just fun to have elite dribbler in our team.

Harry Kane is the target then?

Opportunistic…

Pointless signing, in 30 seconds he professed to needing “A wee” at least 3 times. Can you imagine how yellow his shorts will be after 90mins?
