Wouldnā€™t be a December/January without a Diaz story in the Spanish press.

I really donā€™t think we are struggling under FFP anyhow.

That list of wages is highly unlikely. No doubt taken from Spotrac which has no idea what wages players are on - it guesses uses some basic comparitive tools.

For American sports it is very good as those deals are generally reported accurately in detail.

Tra-la-la-la-la-la-lahhhh-lahhhhhh-lahhhhhhhh.

Jones most recently extended his contract in 2022, is it that realistic to believe heā€™s only on Ā£10k per week?

Antony being paid more than all of them combined :joy:

I think Ferguson will be a Ā£100m+ striker someday (saving this for posterity). But youā€™re right thereā€™s still some development required and maybe Brighton is the best place for him to develop.

I really donā€™t think Pedro is the right fit for us though. Has the technical ability but looks lazy to me and isnā€™t a reliable goal scorer

These figures are definitely incorrect. Surely Quansah doesnā€™t earn more than Jones.

Iā€™d be very happy if we signed Davies on a Bosman. I think he is the best left back in the world. The wages will be high, though will obviously be mitigated by a large signing bonus in lieu of a transfer fee. If that deal is possible, sign me up.

Apart from something like that, for me it would be Kerkez, then Hato, so they can learn from Robbo, rotate with him, and replace him when the time is right.

And still only 24!

Really donā€™t think Evan Ferguson will be signed.

Not a slight on the player but there clearly is a fitness/injury concern

Bayern Munich and Canada left-back Alphonso Davies, 24, who has attracted interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid, is open to a potential transfer away from the German club to Liverpool. (Caughtoffside)

Break open the champagne.

Real Madrid have shortlisted Liverpool and Netherlands centre-back Virgil van Dijk, 33, as one of the possible replacements for Austria defender David Alaba, 32, and Brazil centre-back Eder Militao, 26. (Football Transfers)

Actually, put it back in the cellar.

Maybe you shouldnā€™t have got it out in the first place.

I had a feeling and so I checked and yes Caughtoffside is top of the list of unwanted social media sources.

Anyway, the story originates in Bild which I think is the German equivalent of The ***. According to Caughtoffside, some unnamed bloke at Bild said the following:
Heā€™s not 100% fixed on Manchester United or Real Madrid. I heard that talks with Bayern, at the moment, are on ice until January.

ā€œHis agent, Nick Huoseh, will talk with any interested top club in the new year. When Huoseh is on his tour of England, Liverpool could get a meeting with him. It would be a good club for Davies, of course, given they play a style of football that would suit him. Liverpool, naturally, have a chance.

ā€œI think Manchester United and Real Madrid are more concrete by comparison at this point in time. Bayern are also applying pressure to sign him up to a new contract. Theyā€™re still hopeful about making this work. So, Liverpool are still in the race, if they want him.ā€

Danger! Football agent at work!

Not saying it wonā€™t happen but ā€œfootball transfersā€ sounds less reliable than ā€œfootball insiderā€

As in how? The fantasy writer is a university student making stuff up rather than a high school student?

Sterling hitting 30 shits me up. He does make for a disappointing figure nowadays.

Couldnā€™t even run faster than Aaron Lennon.
