The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I wonder how many kids he’s got now.

It shows just how good Trent is that we could be buying two players to replace him!

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, 26, is on the verge of signing for Real Madrid, with the England international continuing to ignore new offers to extend his current contract that expires this summer. (AS - in Spanish), external

Liverpool will move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Netherlands full-back Jeremie Frimpong and Bayern Munich’s Canada full-back Alphonso Davies, both 24, if Alexander-Arnold joins the Madrid outfit. (Teamtalk)

Pity that Davies plays on the other flank.

Still, why let facts get in the way?

The article doesn’t claim otherwise, it says Frimpong to be Trent’s replacement and we’ll sign Davies to be our new LB in addition.

Of course, Teamtalk is also shite so it’s not true, but at least the basic facts are at least not incorrect.

I don’t click on TeamTalk links, so didn’t read the article. :man_shrugging:

Frimpong and Davies? Bring it on.

Could be vulnerable in behind them, but we’d be 5 nil up :joy:

So… status quo?

I think Falk already rejected our interest in Frimpong, after he said we were following him (could’ve been someone else maybe).

The reason was expected, he’s not the right fit for a RB here in a back 4.

In Leverkusen’s shape, he plays basically as a right winger, very high.

I think it’s questionable whether we’d even sign a RB next summer, or we go with Bradley and Gomez for a while, sign a CB, a LB and whatever else is needed/wanted (like a midfielder and/or striker).

Gonna have to see who goes, let’s say Virgil and Salah stay, but then decide on our priorities and possibilities in the market.

Sounds like Jonathan David is going to be signing a pre-transfer next month, though not at all clear with whom. Lille wants to extend his contract, but he appears to want to move to a higher status/earnings league, with the chance of playing in the CL being the only factor that makes a Lille extension interesting.

He’s very consistently a 1 in 2 player isn’t he?

First time I saw him was locally, playing underage in the highest tier regional division for Men. Scored 21 goals in 12 games in a league he needed special dispensation to play in…but yes, he has been fairly consistent, though this season he is well ahead of that pace.

It’s already amazing that Jonathan David stayed this long in the French League, I had expected clubs to push harder for him. He has scored consistently and I think it’s time he tries to make the move up.

Funnily enough the team most linked with him is Barcelona - who are apparently trying to sign him despite the fact they currently can’t even register the players they already own.

Oh, I don’t know why it might be so - is it maybe because his contract is up in the summer?

Isak, yes please. Thuram? Dunno, I don’t watch foreign leagues.

Egypt winger Mohamed Salah, 32, and Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk, 33, are both expected to extend their Liverpool stays by two years. (David Ornstein, via Mirror), external

Liverpool are open to selling Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez, 25, and have identified Inter Milan and France forward Marcus Thuram, 27, along with Newcastle’s Sweden striker Alexander Isak, 25, as potential replacements. (Teamtalk), external

Liverpool could rival Manchester United for the signing of 21-year-old Hungary left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. (Caught Offside)

As for this, doubt it very much.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham have joined Manchester United and Manchester City in showing interest in Barcelona’s 26-year-old Spain forward Dani Olmo. (Mundo Deportivo - in Spanish)

Attractive as he can come on a free in January but not sure we have a lack of his profile in our squad. Good stats mainly from AM and the wings.

I think we were being linked with him last summer, but not sure how genuine that was or where he would fit now.

No thanks (to Thuram).

Come on Edwards and Hughes, you can find better than that.

We were interested in him last summer, as we were in Gordon. Then things change and you do different stuff.

Even if the likes of Szobo, Jones (although he plays two positions right now) and Elliott have some more proving to do in the #10 position, I do agree that it’s a position where it’s not like we absolutely need a new player.
