Paris Saint-Germain are now close to getting Kvaratskhelia deal done! Direct face to face meeting took place today between PSG and Napoli for Kvaratskhelia to join Paris SG now. PSG have already reached total agreement with Kvara on 5 year contract, as reported last week… as talks are advancing fast on fee under €80m between the clubs. Positive talks today, agreement now very close.
Is there anything with the Kimmich rumours? Just got home and my lad said a little merry-go-round might be in the works, with Trent to Real Madrid, and Kimmich to Liverpool - the latter giving us depth in defensive midfield, and also depth at right back behind/as an alternate to, Bradley.
Seems sort of plausible, but I haven’t heard anything about it, other than my jobless* son just telling me the news.
- I’ll be fair to the lad. He finished high school six months early and got accepted at his first choice college for later this year. In the meantime we said you have to get a job for the next six months and save up some money. One application in, and the vigorous job search is blending into gaming. Time to be a dad and nudge this along… although to be fair, he is coming to my office tomorrow so we can watch the game against Forest together
I’m pretty sure that if Kimmich does move, one of his wishes at his new club will be that he’s not viewed as a serious RB option. Emergency cases, maybe, as he seems a pretty normal guy.
He’s a quality midfielder, but it also needs to be a good fit, wherever he goes. Playing style, midfield structure, partnerships, etc.
Same bloke who started the chat about that Greek lad now claiming we’ve turned down £70m from a Saudi club for Nunez to go this month.
Source is about as unreliable as possible and probably just trying to piggyback on the less tenuous links to the Greek fella that have emerged since his first shout but certainly not the only unreliable whisper about this type of thing.
If there was truth to the story, that Edwards had elbowed out the person responsible for putting together our first team squad so he could personally be responsible for the deal that got rid of our club record signing, I would expect Hughes to put in his resignation the afternoon he found out.
Very strange rumour. I know these accounts from Twitter, they are a fan site and they usually post statistical and tactical analyses of players, games, whatnot - they are hardly a source of transfer news.
Also, as Limie pointed out, Edwards isn’t the sporting director anymore. Also, that initial amount of money is more than Nunez’ book value, so I highly doubt they wouldn’t accept it if offered.
It’s almost surely 100% bovine droppings but frankly I wouldn’t care if Edwards had stepped in and we were trying to fleece them if we did indeed recoup that kind of fee for him.
Probably not worth that level of examination of the details. If he hadn’t post the thing about the Greek lad yesterday that the mildly less unreliable but not wholly a Twitter chancer, Plettenberg, also then mentioned today then I wouldn’t have even bothered sharing.
But as mentioned in the Darwin thread, his agent is Jorge Mendes and he does have strong ties to clubs out in Saudi and to fat commissions for moving his players about.
It’s silly season with the window being open, but just playing devil’s advocate for a second…
I think in a normal situation, Nunez would be sold for £50M, maybe a bit less, if Slot decided he wanted to replace him.
With the Saudis involved, the price goes up. There are signs they are not throwing the money around as much, but if a £70M offer has been made, the usual convention is that you don’t accept the first offer, so we must think we can squeeze a bit more out of it.
The whole thing seems a bit far fetched to me though. Also, I think Al-Hilal can’t add another expensive foreign player, so they will need to shift one out to make room. Doable, but the whole thing seems made up to me.
We’ll know soon enough if Nunez to Saudi has any legs.
Who knows if it’s true, source so far isn’t strong enough.
Hilal are the ones where Mitrovic is the striker, but it’s been reported a few days ago that Neymar will leave them at some point in 2025.
Basically it’s this
“We need to fleece them… get ol Mickey boy in”.
Wouldn’t surprise me if we did a deal on him to recoup costs and so on, however I am 99.99999999*% sure this lot don’t have a fucking clue.
I am half tempted to set out up.
Hopefully we take another 70mil. for Darwin from Saudi whilst whining like a bunch of cunts about the Saudis involvement in the game.
Almost, just almost, like it’s deliberately written clickbait using Edwards’ name given how highly worshipped he is among Liverpool fans?
You should care, because it makes us the kind of headless chickens you see at United. We have a system, a structure, a process, for a good reason.
Exactly. I didn’t like it when we sold Fabinho to them, nor Henderson. Any other non-sportwashing buyer would have been fine.
Aye, it’s gross.
Not sure Whether Nunez will want to move. 80 million from Saudi is a great offer.
I highly doubt that Edwards is handling transfer negotiations for anyone.
Nah. People are inferring that he’s elbowed his way into things and riding roughshod over Hughes without any idea what’s going on or whether it’s even true.
Wouldn’t waste too much time inventing reasons to get wound up.
No, because each person has their own defined roles in the system. They really should not be doing this without a compelling reason.
We’re literally in “The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)”, what else is there to do in this thread but invent reasons to get wound up?
They saved our bacon though. No-one else would have been willing to take them off our hands for decent money and they would have still been here 'til their contracts run down , and we wouldn’t have had the midfield rebuid we so desperately needed.
