I can only imagine the grume in the summer if we sign these two Bournemouth players - “ducking Hughes buying crap players he already knows so he can get back to sunning himself on the beach”
Bournemouth are also doing well, so the smartest for Kerkez might be to wait for summer and then see his options and decide. I don’t expect movement at LB (if any) this month, we’d have to move one out also.
I dont know. There are a million ways you can bat away these rumours without being so definitive. Young kid and English not his first language so maybe it can be taken with a grain of salt, but I did find it funny how oddly final it was.
I agree, we are a great destination and if anyone doesn’t want it, we will be more than fine and there are plenty of fish in the sea.
I was just going off the latest Kerkez comments when he said he wasn’t going to Liverpool. If true, I’m fine with us signing Hato. If not true, I’m more than happy to sign Kerkez.
I didnt realize until he commented on it that it wasnt a real word, but was a term going back to the Rafa era @ZinedineBiscan and I used to describe the generalized sense of pessimism over the need to make signings to kick on and the lack of confidence in our ability to do it.
“Phillip Degan? Is that a real name? That isnt going to lift the Grume in here”
“I just read we are signing some Ukranian guy I’ve never heard of to support Torres so am feeling pretty Grumey today”
“Well, the window just kicked open and Parry fucked off for a 3 week holiday. Let the Grume fall”
He is and he’s also unattainable. Besides, I think that we’re about the see summer 2023 applied to Liverpool’s frontline - or at least that’s what I hope for.
Nunez isn’t of the required standard, Jota is made of glass, Diaz is not a consistent goalscorer (and hasn’t been the same player since his injury at Arsenal), Chiesa is a failed gamble and the kids out on loan probably each need one more good season out on loan.
I’m not saying that the four seniors will all get sold but I’d be surprised if at least two of them were Liverpool players next season. My money is on Nunez and Diaz.
Um…no….to any of that. We may swap out one forward player but that’s it. Isak is absolutely attainable. The club have proven they will spend the money of the right player. Isak would take this squad to another lever entirely.
I could see anything from 0-4 forward changes in the summer, for different reasons. I would say Gakpo is the closest thing to a sure thing of being here next season. You could make a case for pretty much any of the others leaving, for different reasons.
Salah - contract expires.
Nunez - Slot might prefer the transfer fee to reinvest in a player he fancies more.
Diaz - needs a new deal on better terms, or he might be sold. Good player, but the raw numbers aren’t all that good, and Slot might prefer to reinvest the dough.
Jota - probably stays, good player, injury prone, so it is unlikely anyone would give us enough to tempt us. And if he stays, great, as he is a good player.
Chiesa - we are taking a long time working with him to get him up to speed, but between now and the end of the season he needs to show us why he deserves to be here next season. Obvious quality, but he needs to show it.
