The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I understand that. But you could also say the striker is coming in to replace a carthorse who offered them nothing so even being half decent would be an improvement.

Mount isn’t terrible by any stretch. People can write him off after two games but it’s clear they’re still working out their best team. And the keeper isn’t Alisson standard but De Gea has been awful for them for years now and Onana is a bit like Reina for me. He’s a good keeper that will have the occasional brain fart but you live with that for the massive improvement he’ll offer them playing out from the back.

Eriksen and Casemiro are on the decline but that hasn’t happened from one season to the next. And Shaw is injured but that happened today. Does that mean we’re a weaker squad than last year because Konate has picked up another injury.

The fact you can argue it either way suggests they’re probably not too dissimilar to last year and they’ve yet to get their new striker on the pitch.

Mount is a terrible midfielder by the stretch that he has been terrible every time (or close enough) he has been played as a proper midfielder in the Premier League. He doesn’t use the ball well from deep and he doesn’t win it enough. He’s a pretty obvious downgrade in quality on Eriksen, but also a worse stylistic fit as well.

So there’s no rumours then?

I don’t know much about stats but they still press like demons. That said, they spend more time in possession, so they probably run a bit less than they would otherwise but still… No one can be that lucky when it comes to injuries!

Did you not see the state of us in the clip Walshy07 put up,that brazilian lad was destroying us

My take is we are a lot stronger than last season, and should be well placed to finish top four. A little more recruitment could see us challenge for the title.

The strikers have been refreshed and rebuilt. There are issues over the blend, but the component parts are all there, and we should be well sorted up front.

It looks like we have a new starting midfield. Szobo, Mac and Endo. Two crackers and an unheralded player, but I am backing Endo to be a lot better for us than most fans expect. In addition to this trio we have Thiago, Jones, Elliott and Bajcetic. It is a great collection of options. Arguably we could add one more, to future proof us from the departure of Thiago, and protect us from possible injury concerns. I’m chilled either way, and if it ends up being something like Andre in January, I’m fine with that.

Defence is the department that is more concerning. Van Dijk is older, and Konate, good as he is, does seem to pick up a fair few niggles. Matip is past his best too, while Gomez is about as good as you can get for a back up.

One good central defender is needed, who will bump ahead of Matip in the pecking order, and ideally, be good enough to be considered a long term solution, not just a squad man.

I’m not sure if Theate is that man, but I do think we need a signing in this department, or we are vulnerable.

The versatility of Endo is a plus point, and as we saw from the training pics, he can leap like a salmon. Still, I’d rather we didn’t have to use him in defence.

He gets knocked about hes so skinny - never confident in him claiming it.

I’m kind of more with Sweeting and the last point is the one.

He’s a major drop off from Alisson, though I do think Alisson is consistently the best GK for a few years now so anyone would be.

A short term spell fine but if we lost him for longer we’d have to shake our game plan up.

Apparently not.

Whenever the time does come it’s going to be one hell of a job replacing him.

Let’s hope we’ve got the nerd squad and proper DoF in place in time to deal with that one.

Club puts our statement
Klopp reiterates statement
Tossers make up stuff to continue to drag a story probably designed to distract our star player on the eve of a fixture against a team that have various links to those doing the distraction.

Really some of our own fan base media is just as bad.

Well, think about it like this. We could never replace Rush, or Fowler, or Owen, or Torres, or Suarez.

We always do, no panic.

Some would say we have replaced Andy Carroll :grimacing:

With a footballer, not a pissed nutcase.

Maybe true , but I don’t remember the pissed nutcase being sent off for headbutting someone shortly after joining😂

Didn’t we buy him injured after he fell off a stool while pissed,so couldn’t have got himself sent off shortly after joining

From memory he was top goal scorer at the time we brought him in the January ( think he had 11 or 12 goals before he had the injury, was injured when we brought him, I think?)…

If only Torres has stayed to play with Suarez :weary:

Only one reason I can think of for not using the 111 million pound we bid on Caceido - other clubs were trying to mug us for more money. Now I think we have successfully made the outside world forget about that with so much moaning around from fans. Now t the fag end may be we will come up with offers for players we need.
