The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I dont know what “never let us down” means in this context. He’s conceded lots of soft goals and has a habit of pushing the ball back into danger on saves.

Not many better number 2s bur thats because all the no2s are crap.

Any side that loses their 1st choice GK for an extended time will struggle.

Last game of last season he was at fault for three. First one went right under his body.

Arsenal LC game (5-5) he made several big errors like pushing a shot straight to Torreira in the 6 yard box. It was forgotten because we won.

My point is there are flaws in every squad. Duw to registration restrictions and the cost of even wank players like Mount and Havertz, no one has a perfect squad.

Klopp doesnt bin off players like Matip or Gomez unless they ask to leave. Loyalty is both his strength and weakness but he still believes in them.

Mount isn’t a better player than Fred in the position that mount is being asked to play in.

Casemiro is ageing and ageing really badly. They don’t have any other defensive midfielder. The only other guy they have is McTom who they were happy to shop out. Plus add Varane and his increasing injuries (will happen). United are worse off definitely

W.r.t Fred , I have been guilty of mocking him more than others but under a proper manager like a Klopp , he would have been quite a player.

Just watched it back, 2nd goal not first went under him sorry but hes poor on both 1st and 4th also - bad positioning and slow dive.

Hes not a terrible keeper but hes like any other 2nd choice GK - on the bench for a reason.

Think Kelleher will get better though. With regular football. He’s not going to be an Alisson but he’ll cut out quite a bit of those errors if he’s playing regularly.

That said , Pitaluga is more likely to be the next long term keeper

I’m not impressed, personally.

I think you’re expecting too much from a very young keeper when keepers have been known to mature later.

Right, but I was replying to you saying you can’t see how they are worse off.

I can.

They’ve signed an injured 19 year old as their striker, a terrible midfielder and a goalkeeper who already is looking shaky.

Eriksen and Casemiro look like they are on the decline, particularly Eriksen. Shaw is injured for a long time.

It’s very easy to see how they could be worse off. On the balance on probability, it looks like they are.

If United finish above us again this season, I’ll eat my hat.

(Anyone under fifty will probably need to Google that expression)

Oh please please tell me that’s a Harlem Globetrotters style rigged match and that’s not the legitimate quality of defenders and goalies in the Asian CL? I don’t care if its a Mumbai team, I would actually expect better from a pub team. Jesus.

Yeah, I understand but I think that Klopp has shown before that he can be ruthless (like with Mignolet, Karius and Lovren - and all for better), I’d like to see a bit of that again. I’m not saying that he should bin both Gomez and Matip (although I’d like him to) but signing an up-and-coming centre back would push them down the pecking line, with Matip leaving next year anyway. That’s the kind of long-term planning that I’d like to see.

You wear a hat ?

So when they go tits up after the oil money runs out they’ll become Al-Ittihasbeen?

Possibly, and I’ll admit that I find evaluating goalkeeper difficult but I’m also judging his performances against other players of the same age. He’s quite weak aerially, lets a lot of soft shots in. Anytime I’ve really noticed him is because he’s let something in that looked a bit weak.

Long way to go for him and given that Jaros isn’t looking like esrablishing himself here and he was miles better at the same age then I don’t hold out much hope really.

Game less based on intensity, more on quality.

Is it because he doesn’t have the spring to get up to the ball or is it because his hands are weak in that position?

Yes, apparently our current squad are so useless they are about to be regularly twatted in the Liverpool and District Sunday League.

Aside from that, you’ll know of any new signings as and when they are announced. Personally, I don’t think we will see any major signings until January now.

I guess we’ll see. I can understand your point of view and hopefully it plays out that way.
