The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Dutch would have a stroke.

I’ll be the first to correct myself and point out that only one of those three is actually Dutch.

They’re Dutch like you’re Japanese, Legs, so there’s that.

Seeing as how Antony’s playing in the Spanish League. Maybe it’s the case that players in the Dutch league can be good and it’s only the United coaches who suck.

Isaak will never happen. That is not our price bracket. There has to be better value out there. The lad from Sporting for instance.

There was a lad from Benfica, who was not much cheaper than Isak might be, 3 years ago…

And a lad at Brighton we bid a similar price to what Isak is rumoured to cost this year, a couple of years ago…

I do think the Caicedo bit was us and Bloom having an understanding to screw Chelsea over.

Caicedo is a good player. No doubting that.

We’d screw ourselves publicly if that was the case.

We tried, matched the bid, but the player decided otherwise. Chelsea probably did more groundwork with him, I got the feeling we came in late.

Colluding with another club to drive up the cost of a player a third club wants to by would result in enormous sanctions if uncovered and is likely even a criminal offense.

It’s not to say it hasn’t happened before.

But totally unable to be proven.

There would need to be a lot of people in on it, and all it takes is one to blab. Neither Liverpool or Brighton would take that risk.

The likelihood is that either through Brighton or the agent, Liverpool were given encouragement to bid

I am a bit concerned about the injury record of Isaak. Not terrible, but not great either. If the price is the rumoured 80 odd million if they don’t qualify for the CL, fine. If the price is 120M or even more, the injury record gets more concerning.

The quality is there, no issues on that part. But the availability has a question mark.

Depending on who we keep, Salah will be at AFCON and Jota has his own injury issues. We might be spending a lot of money and leaving too many availability question marks over the forward line.

If we have concerns over his injuries and evaluate it’s too risky (knowing that sometimes aspects of these decisions aren’t black and white), then I don’t think Ā£80m instead of Ā£100m+ makes a difference to still go for it. In that case, I believe we look elsewhere.

Daniel Sturridge vibes, or just a bit fragile?

Isaak isn’t as good as a fit and proper Sturridge. C’mon.

We get several mentions in the BBC gossip today. Apart from Football Insider saying what everyone knows about Nunez’s move to Saudi being blocked by the club and him being pissed off about it, there are some actual rumours, including a couple I haven’t seen previously.
