The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Thanks.

Sadly it sounds like it was pinched from daily mail or something.

I saw a link to Stiller this morning in the Echo but the article said the source was unreliable.

Are Hato and Kerkez similar players?

Not really.

I dont think Ive ever seen Hato play, but purely going on the idea that he is often talked about as a LCB/LB hybrid you’d think the answer is no.

That was my thinking too…

The links of us shifting between Hato/Kerkez are pure lazy journalism.

There’s every sign in the league that the game is shifting back to wingbacks rather than the inverting fullbacks we’ve seen of late.

We should be looking for someone in the profile of Kerkez (if Kerkez is too expensive).

We might still go for Hato but that’s as a guy who’s a backup CB (as of now). He can play as a LB but he’s someone who’s more suited to LCB.

Don’t know that one can say the game is shifting back to wingbacks. Every team is different in how they use fullbacks, sometimes even in the same game!
Above everything else, what you look for is quality and how that fits into your game model…

Personally. I wouldn’t mind someone like Cancelo playing as a LWB. Provided we’ve got better defenders to make up to him.

It’s cardinal how Pep decided to go on a wingback buying spree only to do the polar opposite when we showed him up with Robbo and Trent.

Baldiola literally spent 200m on wingbacks only to revert back to a double decker. And Arteta followed suit.

The last few city games, Pep seems to have gone back to the attacking wingbacks.

Pep started his dalliance with inverted FBs at Bayern, with Kimmich. They’d come up against Ronaldo’s Real in the CL and with how spread out they were when in possession, they were absolutely ripped apart by Real on the counter attack everytime they lost the ball. Pep has been scared by that experience ever since.

This is what I’ve thought tbh.
There’s a lad on twitter who has been posting compilations of different strikers last 40 shots, he did something similar with Hato’s last 40 defensive 1v1’s and considering I’d assumed he was more solid defensively, it was a real mixed bag.

Lets hope there are a few more on the way into the club eh :0)

Liverpool love a £35m signing.

Post knee-injury SanƩ is a bench warmer at best. Plus he caused the ruckus that got Sadio kicked out of Bayern.

No thanks.

Frendup is a very active defensive midfielder according to FBRef Stats. He’s in the top 15% of tackles, interceptions, and blocks for his position. I’m not sure how good he is from a technical, going forward point of view though. I’d guess slot would want someone who can perform both roles similar to Gravenberch who plays a much more positive role in our playmaking.

I really hope we can get Kerkez. He seems to fit what we need like a golve.
