The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Not sure why the article is so down on our financial fire power.

I think I read elsewhere yesterday that the club might have around £150m+ netspend available given the money from winning the league and our run in the CL. We also have more money through ticketing because of the full season with the increased seating capacity.

We’ve got a fairly big squad so could raise a substantial bit of change from sales where deemed necessary/ wanted (assuming there are buyers).

The extended contracts are only two years, so presumably we could also be creative in some deals if needed and paying more to an incoming player from year 3 of their contract than we do in year 1 or 2 (with adjustment to account for any inconvenience that causes them)..

Obviously, Chelsea and City potentially earning £90m from this summers world club tournament and Utd returning to the CL may make them more irritating competition in the transfer market, but in the case of the first two, I would expect them to be there anyway,.

Be interesting to see how this year’s wage bill pans out though. If we’re second in the list already and then heavily incentivise contracts there’ll be some bonuses to be paid out this season. Plus we’ve a couple others we need to get tied up.

Saying that, you’d expect a bit of a commercial bump along with increased prize money from the league win. New Adidas deal too which is fully guaranteed as opposed to being partly based on sales.

I suspect it’s just the usual tempering of expectations that there will be a bottomless pit. But if we get close to rumoured fees we’ve set for the likes of Kelleher, Tsimikas, Morton, Doak and Nunez there should be a good £150m coming in. That’s before any potential surprises like a Diaz, Elliott, Jota or Gomez.

Still reckon Hughes is going to need to find us a couple good value deals though which is why £45m on Kerkez is continually being referenced as a potential stumbling block.

I said recently a new injection of quality, Slot said a new injection of energy.

We’re not far. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think we’ll get atleast another 80m for any outgoings , if not more.

Not including the forward players here.

Kelleher
Elliot
Tsimikas
Morton

Might even be more if we look at takers for Bajcetic and McConnell.

Selling 4 out of which Morton was never used) and using that money to replace 2 of the other 3 outgoings is good transfer business. Ideally , whatever we get for Kelleher counts to what we paid out for Mamardashvili.

45m for Kerkez after getting a good price for Morton and Tsimikas will be a win.

I’m just gonna put this out there.

Getting Bajčetić, Danns, Doak, Koumas, and McConnell back will be like having 5 new signings.

That’s an injection of energy right there!

Most of these lads won’t even make our bench, let alone the starting XI.

We are talking about players who have done exactly that before.

But I guess memories are short on here. The only reason I would expect for that would be if they don’t get over their injury issues.

Didn’t think it needed to be spelled out, but I meant on a regular basis.

None of these players were regularly making the bench or the starting XI before they went out on loan.

Doak and Bajčetić probably came closest, but I don’t think either are at the required level to feature regularly for Liverpool during this era.

We may have a couple of players Bournemouth would like to buy e.g. Kelleher and Doak. They won’t be getting them on the cheap if there are other suitors, and if they stick to their guns on a high valuation for Kerkez.

I suspect at the end of the day everyone will get what they need, and the ‘haggling’ over the price in public is just a bit of pre-negotiation.

Still, we have limits to what we will do, and if it is not right for the club I expect us to walk away. My best guess is it won’t come to that.

I’m going to go wild on the defensive predictions and say we will lose two of the following three central defenders - Konate, Gomez, Quansah - and sign Huijsen and Hato as the replacements.

In addition, Tsimikas will be sold and Kerkez signed, and at right back we will sign a player too, but I’m not sure who - perhaps Wesley, the Brazilian, whose agent was reportedly in Manchester talking to interested clubs recently.

Mad I know, but four out four in might be on the cards, defensively.

Trent - Wesley
Tsimikas - Kerkez
Konate - Huijsen
Gomez - Hato

I don’t want to lose Konate, but if he does not sign a deal I would move him on. It also gives Huijsen a clear path to the team.

Gomez is a very good player, versatile too, but I half wonder if Hato could be a replacement to cover entire back and full back, and Joe might leave to play a bit more elsewhere?

It is going to be a fascinating summer.

Trouble there is we would be losing two homegrown players and bringing in none.

Jota and Nunez sold and buy a new no9.
Tsimikas sold Kerkez in
Huijsen in to put real pressure on Konate.
We got so many fringe players that can be sold to fund replacements.

I don’t get why people keep casually mentioning selling Diaz. He’s just had his best season for us and was an integral part of the title win.
Do people think such players grow on trees?

Frimpong gets the nod at right back then, he’s home grown. The added benefit is he can cover right wing as Mo leaves for AFCON.

Who is Wesley?

Someone we’re not signing.

Frimpong; Kerkez; Huijsen (if Konate sold if he doesn’t extend); Hato; plus a striker would be excellent.

Ok got it on Wesley!! Frimpong I would prefer. (That just autocorrected to crimping!)

4 defenders?

There’s no way we don’t add 1 body to the midfield, that’d be scandalous.
