The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I’m just gonna put this out there.

Getting Bajčetić, Danns, Doak, Koumas, and McConnell back will be like having 5 new signings.

That’s an injection of energy right there!

We are talking about players who have done exactly that before.

But I guess memories are short on here. The only reason I would expect for that would be if they don’t get over their injury issues.

We may have a couple of players Bournemouth would like to buy e.g. Kelleher and Doak. They won’t be getting them on the cheap if there are other suitors, and if they stick to their guns on a high valuation for Kerkez.

I suspect at the end of the day everyone will get what they need, and the ‘haggling’ over the price in public is just a bit of pre-negotiation.

Still, we have limits to what we will do, and if it is not right for the club I expect us to walk away. My best guess is it won’t come to that.

I’m going to go wild on the defensive predictions and say we will lose two of the following three central defenders - Konate, Gomez, Quansah - and sign Huijsen and Hato as the replacements.

In addition, Tsimikas will be sold and Kerkez signed, and at right back we will sign a player too, but I’m not sure who - perhaps Wesley, the Brazilian, whose agent was reportedly in Manchester talking to interested clubs recently.

Mad I know, but four out four in might be on the cards, defensively.

Trent - Wesley
Tsimikas - Kerkez
Konate - Huijsen
Gomez - Hato

I don’t want to lose Konate, but if he does not sign a deal I would move him on. It also gives Huijsen a clear path to the team.

Gomez is a very good player, versatile too, but I half wonder if Hato could be a replacement to cover entire back and full back, and Joe might leave to play a bit more elsewhere?

It is going to be a fascinating summer.

Trouble there is we would be losing two homegrown players and bringing in none.

Jota and Nunez sold and buy a new no9.
Tsimikas sold Kerkez in
Huijsen in to put real pressure on Konate.
We got so many fringe players that can be sold to fund replacements.

I don’t get why people keep casually mentioning selling Diaz. He’s just had his best season for us and was an integral part of the title win.
Do people think such players grow on trees?

Frimpong gets the nod at right back then, he’s home grown. The added benefit is he can cover right wing as Mo leaves for AFCON.

Who is Wesley?

Someone we’re not signing.

Frimpong; Kerkez; Huijsen (if Konate sold if he doesn’t extend); Hato; plus a striker would be excellent.

Ok got it on Wesley!! Frimpong I would prefer. (That just autocorrected to crimping!)

4 defenders?

There’s no way we don’t add 1 body to the midfield, that’d be scandalous.

Yep assuming we lose Konate. Need a new LB and RB and also need to strengthen for the future at CB given Virg is showing signs of age and can’t see JoGo or Quansah as good enough to step up as starter.

Hey a midfielder and two forwards would be my preference but that may not be affordable unless we have several additional outgoings

I think we need a midfielder too. My comment above was on the possible churn in the defence. It seems clear to me we need a fifth midfield option that Slot will trust and use.

Arguably Endo has grown on him and he might see a bit more action next season. Arguably Bajcetic will give a good account of himself in preseason and catch Slot’s eye. Or we may make a midfield signing.

Of the three departments I see more changes coming in defence and up front, but it’s fair to say we need another midfielder that Slot will trust and use.

Summer will be very interesting.

We’re not going to let Gomez and Konate go in the same window. Same goes for selling both Nunez and Jota this window. And I can’t see us letting Diaz go unless he kicks up a huge fuss.

Left back is a certainty. Reckon it’s probably either a right back or a centre back. Unless Gomez goes in which case we get one of each.

Midfield may well depend on our assessment of Bajcetic but it sounds like Endo is staying so at most it’ll be one more.

Up top it’ll be one in, one out. Nunez is as good as gone. Chiesa I suspect will be heading back to Italy so someone flexible like Cherki could be an interesting option.

Fans always think there’ll be more business than we usually do, both on ins and outs. We don’t need major surgery, we need some select pieces.
