The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

We have to buy Lautaro Martinez with the help of McAllister of course and Dumfries as well

If we extend Konate now we can keep him out of Madrid’s grubby paws for a couple of seasons at least. Gotta stay ahead of the contract curve. We don’t want another TAA situation.

Yep, it’s that easy.

I know right, so why the fuck don’t they get on with it? Simply sit him at a desk, give him a pencil and get him to sign. I’ve done it in Championship Manager plus I’ve worked in an office so I know what I’m talking about. Pull the finger out, Edwards and Hughes, FFS!

Thiago part 2?

It has been reported in the Echo this morning that LFC have zero interest in De Bruyne

De Bruyne would be a joke. There is a reason Pep was not playing him - injured, legs gone, slow.

People will think of the odd flash this year but for the money he would offer next to nothing. Hard no. Waste of a wage. I would rather take a punt on ne of those young South Americans.

Just funny how our name comes up when it comes to transfers.

I think we should be starting our own transfer Itk Twitter feed as a joke.

Start 50 rumours. there will be 2 atleast with any semblance of truth..

But then people here would be talking about our own rumours, then posting them in the rumour itk, then reading them….. then disappearing up our own butts

Your wisdom. You must know something we do not.

Ornstein tentatively linking us with Frimpong; apparently has a 35 mil release clause

That would seem a no-brainer at that price. Assuming that he would want to come, and the report isn’t a pipe dream.

Not a link per say, but Florian Wirtz has said;

It’s definitely tempting for me to leave my comfort zone at some point and experience something new.

Sounds like he’s listened to Trents statement - maybe he wants to come to us…I’d have him

He’s comfortable losing to Bayern. He wants to try something new and win for Bayern

Physically he is not what he was, but his injury issues have been behind him for a while. Pep has just overlooked him. Yet when he has played he has been well worth his place in the side, and so their respective performances (KDB’s when used, and City’s over the course of the season) really raise questions about Pep’s judgement here.

He is no longer an every game player on a top side, and so anyone wanting to win things is going to have to be clear eyed about what role they earmark him for. As has been pointed out that will have to be at a much reduced salary than he’s been used to. But if that sort of agreement with him can be reached there is huge upside for a team even of our quality.

As a 20 minute sub for 30 games a season he still has season defining ability

For that sort of time on the pitch, my math says his wage would need to be adjusted to about 45K per week. Plus I’d take a bit more off for his having played for cheats, bringing it to about zero.

It’s a good starting point for the negotiations - position it as him paying his footballing indulgence…his absolution for his past crimes.

For what it’s worth, since FBref doesn’t have a graphical comparison, at least not in the free version:

That does not look promising from Frimpong. I put Vanderson there because some fan sites suggested him as an option, I literally hadn’t heard of him prior to that. I also included Porro because I’ve always been impressed with him and it’s a crying shame such a player plays for Tottenham.

It doesnt look good, but it is so different, even when compared against someone who is not thought to be a particularly good defender, that you have to assume that isnt a result of him doing that side of the game that poorly but of the team having a different enough shape that it doesnt put him in the position to make qualifying defensive actions.
