Next time I go to France, Iâm exchanging with them.
Liverpool buy him at a reduced price, move him to centre forward and make him into one of the best players of all time? Yeah, Iâm down for it.
Real are now after Konate on a free apparently (TIA). Ugh!!
Yeah, that rumour has been doing the rounds for the last week or so. I mean, if this isnât âtapping upâ, what is?
Time for our legal geniuses to figure out a way to stop us becoming Realâs feeder club and getting ripped off into the bargain.
Donât see why we couldnât start putting clauses in all our contracts going forward that forbids the player joining Real Madrid for 2 years following the end of their contract. If the player doesnât like it, then they donât have to sign it - but then we move them on, or donât sign them in the case of a new signing. Donât think this would contravene the Bosman ruling.
Obviously such a clause wouldnât prevent a player moving directly from Liverpool to Real, but it would mean they couldnât do it on a free.
I canât see how that would have any legal standing. surely, once a player is out of contact, anything in the contract that has just ended will no longer apply?
And, they have the right to discuss with clubs a potential move 6 months before the contract ends - I donât think that is negotiable (and there may be other circumstances that allow for such contact based on age or treatment by existing club which allow for such contact)
Absolutely zero chance that would be legal. Quite rightly too.
There are ways to do it that are perfectly legal. Happened since the game exists and donât know if theyâll ever be able to prevent that. Not in our lifetimes at least.
So Real Madrid get all their players for free now. Cool.

It was actually rumoured to be the way everything would go after the original Bosman ruling. It actually seemed to have the opposite effect on transfer fees.
Pretty sure Mascot was talking about the contract clauses YNWA was positingâŚ
the club is to do a Chelsea and sign players on very long term contracts certainly isnât feasible in the long run
The only way this will stop is if Real are actually busted for tapping up.
Apart from that, the only thing that can be done is that the club has optional years that can be triggered in the contract . Mostly to ensure that the likes of Real find their new play toy and ignore the one with the longer contract.
Preferred destination clubs have always had an advantage over others. Like we have an advantage over a lot of other clubs. There are obvious downsides to this approach because you canât get players when you want or need them and takes a lot of planning. Whilst waiting for your preferred target they can lose form or become injured. Clubs can also take the Chelsea approach of longer contracts for players to help protect against it - though again that has itâs own downsides.
I wasnât referring to him, just in general ways to approach players or camps of players, exchanging informations with a view for a move in the future.
Seemed like when he said it wasnât legal and you immediately replied saying it was legal, that it was related tbh.
This is called a non-compete clauses, and there are legal in some places but not in some others,. If youâre talking about international laws, it becomes even more complex, and would probably not be enforceable.

thing that can be done is that the club has optional years that can be triggered in the contract
Yeah would like to see more of this. Gives us âextra timeâ to renegotiate a contract or sell.
Donât know about that case, very little chance we know from this position on the outside. But there are ways to do it. Itâs how most transfers happen anyway.
I wouldnt be bothered about losing Konate to be honest. If stays great. If not so be it.
Iâd want a good fee for him. Heâs a great defender but yes, if he doesnât want to sign then we need to fund a high quality replacement and his transfer would go a good proportion of the way there
You canât stop the tapping up. All you can do is try not to let them get to within two years of the end of their deal. And if they do with no sign of signing a new deal you try and move them on then.
Obviously there would be exceptions to this for older players where sizeable fees are less likely and youâre less likely to have as many vultures circling. But for younger players or those approaching their prime youâve got to try and have some lines in the sand.
Most youâd imagine would be happy to wait a year, but two years on the word of Real that theyâll sign you sounds risky.
Thereâs also the option of if you canât beat them, join them. Real may be top of the food chain but weâre hardly small fry ourselves.
