The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

It was actually rumoured to be the way everything would go after the original Bosman ruling. It actually seemed to have the opposite effect on transfer fees.

Pretty sure Mascot was talking about the contract clauses YNWA was positing…

the club is to do a Chelsea and sign players on very long term contracts certainly isn’t feasible in the long run

The only way this will stop is if Real are actually busted for tapping up.

Apart from that, the only thing that can be done is that the club has optional years that can be triggered in the contract . Mostly to ensure that the likes of Real find their new play toy and ignore the one with the longer contract.

Preferred destination clubs have always had an advantage over others. Like we have an advantage over a lot of other clubs. There are obvious downsides to this approach because you can’t get players when you want or need them and takes a lot of planning. Whilst waiting for your preferred target they can lose form or become injured. Clubs can also take the Chelsea approach of longer contracts for players to help protect against it - though again that has it’s own downsides.

I wasn’t referring to him, just in general ways to approach players or camps of players, exchanging informations with a view for a move in the future.

Seemed like when he said it wasn’t legal and you immediately replied saying it was legal, that it was related tbh.

This is called a non-compete clauses, and there are legal in some places but not in some others,. If you’re talking about international laws, it becomes even more complex, and would probably not be enforceable.

Yeah would like to see more of this. Gives us ‘extra time’ to renegotiate a contract or sell.

Don’t know about that case, very little chance we know from this position on the outside. But there are ways to do it. It’s how most transfers happen anyway.

I wouldnt be bothered about losing Konate to be honest. If stays great. If not so be it.

I’d want a good fee for him. He’s a great defender but yes, if he doesn’t want to sign then we need to fund a high quality replacement and his transfer would go a good proportion of the way there

You can’t stop the tapping up. All you can do is try not to let them get to within two years of the end of their deal. And if they do with no sign of signing a new deal you try and move them on then.

Obviously there would be exceptions to this for older players where sizeable fees are less likely and you’re less likely to have as many vultures circling. But for younger players or those approaching their prime you’ve got to try and have some lines in the sand.

Most you’d imagine would be happy to wait a year, but two years on the word of Real that they’ll sign you sounds risky.

There’s also the option of if you can’t beat them, join them. Real may be top of the food chain but we’re hardly small fry ourselves.

Brazilian GOAL:

JUST IN: Liverpool have contacted Brazilian right-back Vanderson (23) in the last couple of days. AS Monaco want ÂŁ25M for the defender, @GoalBR.

He’s 23, has 3 and half seasons in France already which includes some CL football, and recently earned his first cap for Brazil

On paper that looks right. Unsurprisingly there are lots of highlight videos on youtube already available. Amazingly though the one I picked, titled “this is why Barca want Vanderson” starts with him launching a shot a mile over the bar

Brazilian play for Monaco? Need to be done in next hour.

What was the deal with Milner when he joined us? Did City offer him an extension?

Also with Matip. I know it is more common for Bundesliga players to run down their contracts, but was there any interest in him prior to joining?

I think they did but I can’t remember if they were always planning to do so, or whether it was a late decision based on his form and their squad.

Yes. City fans tried to spin it that they let him leave, but they offered him an improved contract that he turned down because he was not satisfied with the way he was used there. No matter how well he played the more glamourous players would always worm their way back into the side at his expense.

And then came here and was asked to fill in at LB

No, that was the whole point of the Bosman case. Prior to that clubs continued to hold the player’s registration.

Once the contract ends the player is free to do what he wants. Even if someone agrees to putting that clause in the contract, it wouldnt be enforceable once the contract expires (if not before).

Its too much garbage for words.
