I can’t stand them, but with Alonso going to Real Madrid, they might have their own ambition for Wirtz. They are late to the party, but if Alonso wants the player, it’s not hard to see something like Guler going to Leverkusen, plus cash, for Wirtz.
Similar to the Elliott plus cash deal proposed above.
Obviously Real Madrid are a bit top heavy and they need to find better balance, but Alonso might have in mind a couple of surprising subtractions, and Wirtz could be an addition he wants to make.
Ugh. I should stop with this thought. I have told myself Wirtz is between us and Bayern, and we have a chance.

Güler is way too good for Leverkusen.
Real seem to have retreated on this one and the player is likely to want it done before the internationals, so probably in the next week or so.

He’s mustard. Madrid have criminally underused him; I have no hesitation whatsoever in saying that he’s potentially just as good as Wirtz, and he wouldn’t cost anywhere near as much.

I see that Bayern think the same as me, despite Mitoma’s age.
Bayern Munich believe Brighton and Japan winger Kaoru Mitoma, 28, is a viable alternative to Wirtz. (Sky Germany)
I wouldn’t object to Doak to Everton, but if he’s got any sense he would wait to see if there are any better alternatives. As for Branthwaite, I think Utd would be more willing to pay the exorbitant price that Everton would want.
