The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Local Frankfurt source, no idea how reliable but I would assume fairly reliable

Sounds like Slot really wants to give the machine a few whirls and see what comes up. A real revamp and we could have quite a different side next season.
I for one think that is the right decision, I don’t think this side can go another season at the top without a significant refresh.

Trent, Tsimikas and Darwin are 3 that will leave, resulting in Frimpong, Kerkez and a new CF arriving. All 3 potentially capable of being 1st choice in their positions. Considering 2 of those outgoings are not 1st choice, that’s enough of a change to the starting 11 for 1 season.

Kelleher will also be gone as there is so much interest in him and Mamardashvili is arriving.

We may see 2 or 3 players like Joe Gomez, Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton leaving and being replaced by a couple of players, CB and CM/AM. Unless 1 of those is Wirtz, I would think they too will be secondary to the first 11.

Seems to me to be 4 definite out, but possibly 7 and a similar amount in.

I would be fine if Nunez and Jota are sold to the Saudis. Reinvest the dough and freshen the attack to suit.

I would be less inclined to sell Luis Diaz, but I could get over it if we signed a real belter like Wirtz.

I would not be on board with selling Quansah. Last season he was arguably above Konate in the pecking order and he looked like a tremendous player. This season he has had a couple of slight hiccups, but he still looks a real player to me. The main issue this season has been playing time, so he hasn’t really found his best rhythm. He has also been unlucky on 2-3 occasions, wrong place at the wrong time sort of thing. I have a feeling that if we sell him we will end up watching a player go from strength to strength elsewhere and end up looking like one of the most accomplished central defenders in the game in a few years. I think he has most things you need in a central defender and the main thing that is missing is a bit more playing time. If he can’t get that here we should be creative in what his next move is. Sell to someone with an agreement we can buy him back in 2-3 years at a pre-decided price, something creative like that. Stronger for the other team than a loan. But we still retain some control and can bring him back home, should he become the player I suspect he will be.

Has anyone asked them if they are fine with this? They are footballers, not camels.

Some unkind souls might liken Nunez to a donkey…

Maybe he could play for Blackpool?

Cadena SER are saying that Nunez’ representatives have held talks with Atletico Madrid and that they like each other but that Liverpool value him over 45 million euros and that would be a problem.

Also, Diaz is on the front page of Sport, they are saying he’s Barcelona’s no. 1 target for this summer.

Not for Saudi clubs, it won’t.

He’s a Mendes client, so I don’t expect any issues with finding him a new club where everyone will be happy and their pockets lined. Whether that’s Atletico or somewhere else, we’ll see. Atletico tend to stump up silly amounts of money on one forward every few years, so maybe they do it with Nunez, too.

Are there still rumours about us wanting Alvarez?

I’m pretty sure I’d heard that we had been watching him but I’ve no idea how serious we are about him.

However if we did want him then Nunez going the other way could play a lot in that potential transfer.

The rumours were started by Anfield Index, I think, which is a fan site that publishes all sorts of statistical insights and articles about Liverpool players and potential targets. I wouldn’t count them as a reliable source for transfer news, though.

That said, I think that Alvarez would have been great but I assume that ship has sailed given the amount of money Atletico paid for him.

By the way, your nickname sounds awfully familiar. Welcome back!

It was reported in January that Nunez was open to that Saudi move.

Atletico’s coach said that Alvarez is going to die there () so doesn’t look like he’s moving any time soon.

Same type of dead body quote as Arteta?
And that didn’t age well!

Are you suggesting camels are less important than footballers?

I’m suggesting that livestock can be bought and sold without their consent. It always amuses me when selling players to the Saudis is thrown around like flogging unwanted crap on Ebay.
