Again, for me Gakpo is a very good player and I would not sell.
There is a sum of money somewhere on the scale that would make us consider it. Obviously the more integral the player, the higher the sum would have to be. At a guess, if Bayern offered 100M euros for Gakpo I would imagine that would prompt an internal conversation on our end.
In all likelihood Bayern won’t do that, and we will be quite happy with that, as Gakpo plays a lot and puts up good numbers for us. It looks to me like Bayern are acting like a spoilt child not used to getting their own way, so after missing out on Wirtz they have decided to try to unsettle Gakpo.
Fair to say based on what? It hasn’t been the first time Slot uses a player extensively and then sold him. We don’t know how he wants the team to evolve.
No point looking up the 23/24 season since it was his last but the season before…
Just to look up a few:
Kökçü, Danilo, Dilrosun… all played 45+ games in 22/23 and were sold.
Sinisterra, Malacia, Senesi, Linssen all played close to 50 games the season before that and were sold.
It isn’t apples to apples because perhaps Feyenoord had more reasons to sell most of them…
I’m not sure it is comparable at all. We’re one of the richest clubs in the world and pay the players accordingly, and coming off probably our best financial year ever. Feyernoord, as successful as they are, are probably reliant on high turnover of players both to generate funds but also to attract players to join their club (in the knowledge that they won’t be denied a move on).
Well he could have played Chiesa, Jota or Nunez in any of those games instead of Gakpo but didn’t. I’m surprised there’s any argument about him being a key member of the team Slot will be looking to have involved next season.
Yes, every player has a price. But let’s be honest, our price would be more than Bayern would pay and we’re planning on Gakpo being part of the team next season. Unless he kicks up a fuss, and after this season why would he, he’ll be here next season.
I’ve read a few articles recently, that have hinted/suggested, that Bayern Munich are not exactly flush with money. Something their own fans are also suspicious of… Which I suppose, could explain away, the posturing demonstrated by spouting about Gakpo as an exercise in appeasing these fans…
They wanted Wirtz, but we got him instead. Now comes the job for explaining that away to their homebase
