The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Prices went through the roof many, many years ago.

United paying 70m for the bang average Hojlund didn’t help matters too.

Darwin wasn’t a complete failure ( this season not withstanding)

Right, but that doesn’t mean that both Nunez and Jota have to leave to fund an incoming forward, there are other players expected to leave who will raise enough in funds

Yes he was, for what we paid for him , for what we expected him to be able to do , he absolutely is a failure

And other areas in the team which do need improvements too. We still are looking at a CB.

One case where Klopp overruled the data science team. Hopefully, it won’t happen later.

The current striker market is a bit tricky, as there’s no clear standout, for various reasons. I’m happy enough if we sign Ekitike, as our recruitment team has more than earned the right to be trusted. The ingredients are all there for him to kick on and be an excellent striker, but obviously the price we would be paying would indicate more of a finished article than we would be getting. It’s the market, innit?

In a way we could argue that we’ve already been there before with Darwin, and he didn’t quite make the grade. In some ways I see the temptation to just keep him and hope he kicks it up a notch with Wirtz behind him, but that ship has sailed. He, and we, need a fresh start. Slot needs his own man and if that’s Ekitike, bring it on!

If we do four signings early on - Wirtz, Ekitike, Frimpong and Kerkez - that would be over €300M, based on prices reported, and likely add-ons.

You love to see such decisive action. Hopefully it happens, and quickly.

The pendulum would then swing in the direction of sales, and it will be interesting to see how far that goes, and how much money we bring in.

With the bulk of the incoming business done, if we get the four mentioned, we can then see what else we need to do, based on departures and opportunities that might emerge.

Maybe the window will be ā€˜boring’ like the first half of the season - winning by two goals all the time, dominating the game, and not really feeling the opposition lay a glove on us. I would happily take the transfer window equivalent :joy:

For the price? Yeah - he’s been a disappointment.

As for not meeting expectations, let this be a lesson: if you don’t expect anything, you can’t be disappointed.

We’ll need to be generating some serious cash. Morton , Elliot , Kelleher , atleast 2 of the forward players …

You are quite right about that, and every time we put a new roof on, prices again go through it!

There used to be a quaint saying, ā€˜He’s worth his weight in gold.’ I wish that’s how much players cost these days! They would all be less than €10M.

Unless one of our CBs is moving on this summer, it’s unlikely recruiting one will be at the top of the club’s must do list and therefore interfere with the club’s plan to bring in a new forward. Same for other positions if Wirz, Kerkez and Frimpong are signed.

Probably in jail - Anyone with 2 first names is a monster and likely a pshycopath

There are questions over Gomez and Quansah. Fitness issues on Gomez. Questions whether Quansah is good enough (maybe needs a loan)

We wont be needing reinforcements in the midfield and wingback positions. But we still do need a CB.

That will be a good move for Brentford and for Kelleher.

35m please. It’s a bargain.

It this is true, this will be the first Liverpool-related transfer that Sky have broken in ages, so I’m not really sure it will go through. That said, it would be a good deal for everyone involved, even if the price was lower than the one you suggested.
