The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Don’t think Jota should be safe.

But the problem remains who would want to bid for him.

Hopefully he recovers from the knock he took against Chelsea and gets back to his good self.

It worries me a lot as does his overall game. I thought he was the dog’s bollox when I first saw him but I think he has a bit of an attitude problem. Could be (probably am) wrong.

I could see Jota going if we get an offer for him and we sign a new first choice striker. Would let Diaz and Gakpo fight over being first choice on the left and leave Diaz as the backup striker as well.

I can’t see us getting an offer for Jota, and my gut feeling is that he never really recovered from his torso injury last year.

I would be tempted to give Jota a good pre-season, and a chance to re discover his fitness.

Yeah if an offer came in fair enough but we can’t force it. I think there are plenty of players surplus before we start selling the likes of Gakpo mind.

Yeah that’s the part where I’m not sure anyone would offer. Not the worst result if we keep him around as backup. We’re going to have enough players leave as it is.

The limiting factor being him getting and staying fit

The biggest issue for Jota regarding his fitness is just that he seems a bit unlucky. This season was a write off because a big lad landed on him, broke his ribs and he ended up with a punctured lung. He seems to have a had a few injuries where he’s got into a physical tussle and come out of it broken.

There might be something in him just dialling back the combative nature of his game, and learning to pick his battles a bit more.

Was an issue before then though and seems unlikely to get much better

How is knee bruise worse than knee collateral ligament tear?

Someone needs to stay, we can’t replace 4-5 forwards this summer.

If we go full guillotine by frustrations we’d be left with who, Salah, Gakpo and Diaz. And even that has it limits with some fans.

Jota shouldn’t be relied upon as a first choice striker for the whole season, but I don’t mind him at all a little longer in backup/rotation.

If Jota manages to shake off his unfortunate latest injury, I don’t mind him staying for another season. Even with his other injury record

I suppose we’ll have to see in preseason whether he has managed to shake it off because he didn’t seem 100% after returning back from that.

Still think this is a smokescreen for Ekitike. The Isak news atleast.

On the stats front , not that stats mean everything , Ekitike and Isak look pretty similar.

It took me one and a half years to recover from a broken rib. It will have taken even longer with a punctured lung as well.

It looks like both Nunez and Chiesa are going to be sold to Napoli.

No word yet if Osimhen is coming back on the other end of the deal.

I’ll be glad to get the money back for Chiesa and Nunez regardless. That will fund our next striker, no matter whom we choose.

German league is a lot easier than the Premier League. I have concerns about Ekitike’s finishing. Isak is banging them in for fun and is Prem proven.

That being said I understand an Isak transfer would be much more difficult, it’s just I see these two as worlds apart right now.
