Why not?

I would be happy to take Osimhen as our new #9 if Isak isn’t available, which it looks like he will not be. I prefer Victor over unproven strikers like Sesko and Ekitike TBH.

Not really seeing many links between us and Sesko. Osimhen is a great player, but not sure he is the sort of player Arne is looking for. If he was, we would have probably seen more development in that given he is openly available.

My gut feeling is that we are holding on to see whether we can still get Alvarez or Isak, with Ekitike perhaps being the preferred option if that isn’t possible. From what I’ve read/ listened to, I think these three players are considered better at carrying the ball and working in tighter spaces than Osimhen, and that’s something Arne is looking for in his choice of forward.

I’m not Osimhen’s biggest fan, but do recognize that after a tough start at Napoli, he’s been a success there.

He’s one of the most popular shouts among fans, so it will be interesting now where he goes after Napoli, being 26-27 and possibly eyeing a big European club?

There’s something smelly though about him and I think there are some reasons why he ended up in certain situations lately or why that calibre of move didn’t happen (yet).

I would be a bit surprised if we went in for him, I don’t think stylistically Slot would totally approve it. Especially as a move straight after Nunez.

Yeah, I get Balotelli vibes from him.

Could be totally unfair though.

I would prefer someone other than Osimhen strictly based on AFCON. It would be tough missing two frontline players during that tournament.

Ive never seen either play.

Osimhen is by all means a great player. He is very mobile, very strong, willing to run with the ball with good pace and yet have the instinct to get into scoring positions regularly.

I am not sure whether we ever wanted him but he is so good in that one video I watched of him in YouTube.

We’re all guessing as we try to piece it together, but my suspicion is Ekitike is the one we want. He has good feet and it could be argued that last season he started to break out towards a level that may have caught our interest.

He’s not fully there yet and there will be more development to come, but he is 22 and I get the feeling that Slot would love to help shape him to suit.

The transfer fee will smart a little, assuming 100M euros, as he is not yet the finished article. On the flip side, I would imagine the wages will be a lot less than Osimhen is looking for.

Alvarez would probably be my number one choice, but I suspect the price will be too ridiculous, and I don’t know if he wants to move again so soon.

Ekitike would probably be my number two choice, and I think he is the one we will sign. Chelsea were all over him, and we all know how they like to splash the cash. They wanted a deal before the Club World Cup, but Ekitike slow-walked them to see what other options might emerge.

Just a guess, but I would like to think Hughes was in touch, saying we wanted him, but first, we will close deals for Frimpong, Wirtz and Kerkez; then sell a couple, but hang on, because we will come back for you this summer.

Chelsea… has so much ever been spent for so little reward?

An Italian club 6th?

Osimhen alone cost Napoli almost €80m. Lukaku, Neres, Verdi, Raspadori, Politano, Ngonge. Lozano was in 2019 and cost them €50m.

Apparently:

" Liverpool are understood to have dropped their price for Darwin Núñez , with the Uruguayan’ now at £40m. Milan and Napoli are interested although any deal is likely to depend on other deals."

That was quick. He’ll be free by next weekend.
