Did indykalia say that ?

Doesn’t Newcastle have an airport ?

There were other Italian forwards we were never in the conversation for.

Inzaghi , Delpiero , Zola , Baggio

Not the point, they didn’t join us and then be crap.

I bet they are. Probably a bunch of desperadoes down the King’s Rd.

If our summer was

Ins:
(Those 2 keepers)
Frimpong
Wirtz
Kerkez
Guehi
Isak

Outs:
Trent
Kelleher
Robertson
Quansah
Nunez

That could/would be phenomenal business.

Hope we don’t lose the likes of Elliott, Jones, Jota, Gakpo, or Diaz but can see why the first three, in particular, might move on.

Agree with near enough all of that, but don’t see Jones going. He seems set for a career here as first back up, playing 40/50 odd games a season just filling in every midfield position apart from holding mid to allow rest/rotation or being the first sub in any other game.

Also he gets the club in a way that a lot of the others don’t. His scrap with the bitter blue scum this season has surely cemented his place as a local icon. He’s one of us on the pitch.

If he could stay fit for a full season to build in the form he always develops he’d be a much better mid than he gets given credit for.

Jones is still needed without doubt, we don’t have a lot of (quality) options for those double pivot roles.

If we brought in Wirtz and Isak I reckon Elliott is certainly a goner and probably Chiesa too. Don’t see Jones, Jota, Gakpo or Diaz going anywhere though.

Do wonder who we plan to play left forward when Salah goes to the AFCON though.

Salah plays on the right.

We’ll deal with that when we get there, I don’t think even Slot knows right now (and doesn’t have to) who will play instead of Salah when he’s off in Africa.

Yeah I think the obvious would be Frimpong, we clearly see development in Bradley so I expect rotation on that side.

Apparently, we are interested in Guehi, again. In the BBC piece about Leverkusen’s interest in Quansah, there’s this which could see us ā€˜swooping’ for a bargain buy:

Liverpool have an interest in Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi, who could be viewed as a replacement for Quansah.

BBC Sport understands that the Anfield club’s level of interest in England international Guehi this summer is linked to Palace’s asking price for the defender.

Last year, Palace rejected four offers from Newcastle with the final one reaching £65m. However, Guehi has just 12 months left on his deal meaning he can leave for nothing next summer.

If a deal for Guehi can not be reached during this transfer window, Liverpool would be interested in landing the centre-back on a free next summer.

Edit: I see the BBC reads the daily Mail.
Liverpool are also keen on signing Crystal Palace’s England defender Marc Guehi, 24. (Daily Mail)

In among other already known stuff, there’s also this:
Liverpool and England defender Joe Gomez, 28, is interesting Crystal Palace, Leeds United and West Ham and the club are open to letting him go. (TBR Football)

So, sell two, get one half price? I’m not tempted by that.

Oh, there’s a Guehi thread now?! Why wasn’t I informed?!!

I was about to say…

We might still require another CB if Gomez does end up leaving.

Wonder if Chambers is ready for a bit part role as the 4th CB.

I’d be happy to sign Guehi if Quansah is off. It’s an upgrade. If Gomez ends up leaving, and Palace might be interested, I would go for Hato as a versatile defender.
