The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I’ll believe it when it happens.

Watch out for Nathan Collins arriving.

Like Chiesa?

Nallo was highly rated, but physically seems a long way off. He could require a bit of patience and maybe even a less direct path to the first team if he’s ever going to have one.

There is a lad playing for the England U21s this summer who seems to fit the bill there

As CF?

I think it’s less a ringing endorsement of those two players and more a statement on how far further back the players behind them are.

That would be a nuclear summer, a Real Madrid/Cheaty kind of summer (only without the charges). Still think Isak is fairly unlikely and they might go for Ekitiktok, which is fine if they think it’s the right option, but just the fact there’s talk about him and James Pearce hasn’t come out with his usual “wide of the mark” tweet is… something.

Pearce isn’t an ITK anymore.

Yeah that is fair. With the clear out last summer and likely additional moves this summer (Morton? Doak?) we do look a fair bit away from being positioned to get some useful contributions from the youth side.

I do think we’ll be going for Ekitike.

Would have loved Isak but his transfer fee and his injury history won’t be conducive.

No matter how much we manage injuries , there’s always a chance that players get more injured as they age.

Pearce has been for a while fed information about who we won’t be signing.

Yeah , the club is probably using him to spread disinformation tactics.

You don’t seriously think that?

More tongue in cheek.

He did go out of favour with Klopp.

When Salah goes toAFCON frimpong will more than deputise for him and it would be interesting to see Bradley and him on the same side of the pitch.

More than deputise for one of the greatest players of all time?

Tbf Slot has said he’s planned to have Chiesa here next season. The rumours around him are more to do with he fact he wants game time and wants to play for Italy in the world cup next year

I think the expectation of that is Slot would only legitimately want him here next year if there was an expectation that he’d be able to contribute more, and surely enough that concerns about the Italy team dissolve. So the questions are

  • how much stock should be put in Slot’s public comments? Are they a reflection of his real position or more political (protecting his transfer value)?
  • Assuming they are authentic, does Chiesa buy them and see a path to getting enough game time?

A huge part of me would be really disappointed in him leaving as there is clearly a good player in there, his attitude has been top notch, and for most of the season his absences were easily explainable for reasons other than Slot not rating him. But it became harder to hold onto the position that he had a part to play with as little as he was used in the meaningless games.
