There was always a part of me that thought that Wirtz might be able to unlock more of Nunez. But I think Nunez’s heart is set on leaving, and I don’t think you want to bring him back into the fold when he wants out.

I think the chances of Diaz going have now reduced significantly, even if we bring in a No.9.

If I think about it, you actually onto something here. Value in Nunez now, yet reducing without playing. Not much to lose with Chiesa even if he doesn’t play.

Not sure about Nunez going. He has been doing it tough as strikers can do. Maybe a pre-season with some goals could change his luck.
.
As far as Diogo, his position might go to someone like Dans, or an academy kid.

We said this after the Brentford game where he got the 2 late goals. He then gets 2 in the last 20 appearances after 5 in the previous 27 includes the Brentford goals. He was 11 goals down on the previous season.

I think Chiesa stays if he wants to. I think Slot is keen to see what he is like after a full pre season. However the World Cup hangs over all that.

If they qualify.

This. Look, I like Nunez, I think he’s a very hard working player and he’s got plenty of strength and skill and in the right set up, he could be a 20+ goal a season striker; but it’s not our set-up. He just hasn’t quite worked out and certainly for the money spent you can say he’s been a flop, but if we can net 50M for him this summer then I’ll be well happy. If he does end up in Italy I think he’ll thrive and that would be good for both parties.

He might come back to the prem and thrive at another team in another setup, but it’s become clear he doesn’t fit what Slot is looking for up front.

For me the signs have been that SLot doesnt want Nunez.
But last season others were starting ahead of him who were just as off the boil but Lfc dont want to pay the £5m we owe his previous club if he starts one more game so they would start anyone else ahead of him.
He will be gone, I dont think Jotas death changes that at all.

Currently 3rd and 3 points behind 2nd and 9 points behind 1st. Will take a strong reversal in form to even make the playoffs let alone qualify automatically

Lakuba linked again. Lots of write up about the CB. Can play LB too so a Hato alternative.

Anyone seen him?

Lukeba is a very good full back and he is quick I wanted us to sign him before he went to Germany but I fear he might want to go to PSG.

From what I’ve read/heard of Lukeba, he is an incredibly good defender, but his passing/distribution/play is quite raw. He’s 6ft tall, so not the unit that some seek (when discussing Marc Guehi).

At the price reported (somewhere between £55-75m), he would not be cheap, and is contracted to Summer 2029.

As usual, I’m comfortable with whatever Hughes (and Edwards etc) decide is best for the club/team.

Personally, I’d rather have Marc Guehi if we are brining in a CB this summer - PL experience, decent price as last year of contract, homegrown/English. Yes, his heading is a concern, but given we have more of the ball than the opposition, his ball playing would be a good attribute in the team.

Obviously, Konate’s contract situation needs to be worked out. Also read that the club may well be happy to acquire Guehi for free next summer rather than overpay (in their minds) this.

If Martinelli is available for say 50 million, we should sign him to play as a striker, false 9 or from the left. He is a very very good player misused by Arteta in my opinion. Sell Nunez, buy Martinelli and Ekiteke/Sesko..

great example of a horrible idea

We have 2 other lads on the left who could also do a better job in those other positions than Martinelli

I agree i think Barnes and McManaman might just still be better.

No.

You fail to count how much Martinelli has stagnated under Arteta. That Martinelli which was praised by Klopp is a long way away from the Martinelli that is there in Arsenal.

I’d rather play the kids than buy Martinelli even if he was available at a cut price deal of 25m

Not sure where to put it, but agree with those saying that Reddit shouldn’t be used as a source for transfer stuff. If you see something on Reddit, then please go to the original source of the news and, if you judge it to be reliable, then post that instead. Cheers.

Bloody hell. I tried Reddit. A couple of good bits for tech advice etc but anything LFC is a bunch of kids… innit bro. Nonsense.
