The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

I would argue that it is the smart move from Newcastle. Wilson as a back up is a loss and its a big burden to place on Isak. This move would give them a year to assess Ekiteke’s readiness and with all going well put them in a strong position in terms of dealing with ongoing interest in Isak.

Newcastle are interested and they should be - Ekitike profiles quite closely to Isak. Still, I think once Darwin’s exit goes through - and Osimhen leaving Napoli has happened so it presumably will be quick now - we will make a decisive move for Ekitike and get him wrapped up quickly for preseason.

He’s also someone they have seriously looked at before so will have a good idea of how he will fit them.

Have not heard much about this guy recently, but would be at the top of my list of attacking players available.

Step up Agent Trent, it is time to do your job

Don’t think it would be in his interest.

:joy:

He’s not exactly a CF, is he? If we were to buy him then I’d imagine that he’d be a replacement for Diaz, who of course is not leaving. Or is he?

Which would still leave the door open for Ekitike. What a front three that would be. Possibly. You know, if they all gel with each other.

He’s not a striker, but he did have quality periods as a false #9 when Benzema was out. Rodrygo is a bit unlucky because ultimately, I think LW might be his best position (now we have to judge that potential and the time spent at RW, because today he’s mostly a RW). Because of Vini (and Neymar for Brazil), he mostly had to play as a RW. Which he did really well, he has evolved in last years. He’s a player who can play in all 3 forward positions.

Nice versatile option to have then if we are actually interested.

Will real want a prohibitive fee?

We could get some journos to write some rubbish about how he offended some Perez business colleagues.

Wasn’t he seen dancing with a Scouse influencer while wearing a red and white scarf and shouting “Boss, tha’!” recently?
I think Gary off YouTube mentioned it.

He is reported as wanting to play on the left, so not sure he would be open to being Mr Versatile.

I think the bigger issue is he just wants to play. Despite his versatility offering Real some viable solutions to the problems their incredibly disjointed squad building has presented any manager there, he has often found himself missing out.

This is the paradox of versatile players. Despite being able to fit in across a range of roles they often get pushed aside for each of them the moment someone viewed as a specialist by the manager is available. So they end up being viewed as back up for everything but first choice for nothing. When you see players like Milly start to demand to be viewed in a specific role it is more a tactic to break this perspective of them than it is a real aversion to playing a different role. That is what it feels like is the case with Rodrigo. The challenge is I dont know we could offer him anything other than he already has at Real, other than maybe more games as an option in a collection of different roles.

Getting a bit tired of this constant Spanish speculation.

And posting BS from Reddit or AS. I’m sure I could post a twitter account that says we’re signing Mbappe and Saliba but I would never post such tripe

Just sell him for 50 - 60 million pounds and get Guehi if he doesnt want to stay. Cant keep losing players for free. Buy Guehi and younger under-study. Ask his agent to find a club who can match our valuation or ship him to Saudi. If he doesnt want to do either of this make him sit on the bench and this being world cup year he cant afford to hold us for a ransom.
