…you mean we’re finally closing the deal to sign Gordon!
If Ekitike goes to Necastle it absolutely opens the door for an Isak exit.
I do think Isak goes if this goes through.
Hopefully its Ramsey for canteen.
I’m hoping that we’ve agreed with Newcastle to let them have a run at Ekitike before we make a move for Isak, to help them keep the price down from Frankfurt - who would presumably look to get more from a club that just received £150m and need a striker desperately.
It’s the only way I can make sense of us not challenging them for a player we’ve been after all summer and now are in even more desperate want of a striker than we were before.

Other than unfounded speculation there is nothing to suggest Ekitike has ever been on the radar.
We love it.
Gordon?
Yeah
More than us signing Ekitike I am concerned with the way Konate situation is panning out. Think he is 95% gone, just hope we get atleast 50 million for him to invest on Guehi.
He will go… next summer.
No point in fuxking with our season for what will be a paltrey amount and needing two CBs, we will probably get Guehli anyhow as we need one and it might be a bit of a good thing that we can smooth the issue over playing time.
Isn’t that the case for every transfer though. Until the club announce anything it’s all just speculation to varying degrees of believability.
It’s Ornstein running this about Ekitike and Newcastle and he’s also connected us with him on a number of occasions too, albeit less concrete than this. Not that it actually sounds like Newcastle are that close to sealing a deal anyway.
If Diaz intends to leave, and we did a deal with Real Madrid for Konate + cash for Rodrygo, it would make sense. Assuming we wanted Rodrygo.
But apart from that, I’d rather keep Konate even if he is winding his deal down, as he is a very good defender and we could win the league again. It might be a case of Konate out and Guehi in next summer, both on a free.
Obviously we need to replace Quansah. Hato? Lukeba? Will it be Guehi this summer? Other?
After doing a lot of great business early on, then having an understandable break due to the tragic circumstances, the remainder of the window looks like we will see more transfer action. I won’t list it all out, but there are players we will be selling, and in all likelihood we will need, at the bare minimum, a central defender and a striker.
There was a piece from David Lynch where he said we wanted a young CB with potential and named two we were interested in.
One was a lad called Giovanni Leoni who is at Parma. A truly fantastic name. I think another journo backed this up too.
The other was Konstantinos Koulierakis of Wolfsburg.
Not sure I’d ever put too much stock in something David lynch reports but a couple more options on your CB list.
When I heard the name I watched the videos of the young Parma lad. He looked massive - not gangly, like many his age. He bossed it with his strength, and in one tussle he even knocked Lukaku off the ball. He looked like he could shift as well.
Obviously it’s a big jump up to the Prem, and the top end at that, but I would be very happy if we got Leoni as the younger prospect to develop.
Aren’t all Italians rubbish?
He doesn’t look very Italian mind. Greek guy sounds decent.
Maybe we’ve decided that not only is Isak too expensive but Ekitike is too, so we’re going for a cheaper option. If were to buy Mateta I wouldn’t be too disappointed. He’s not Isak but the guy does have ability and maybe it’s thought that he would be a better fit.
Liverpool have held talks with Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, 28, with the Frenchman meeting with the club’s representatives in Paris. (Footmercato - in French)
And there’s this.
West Ham have added Liverpool’s England Under-21s duo, forward Harvey Elliott, 22, and defensive midfielder Tyler Morton, 22, to their list of targets. (Mail)
Not sure Palace will be happy to lose so many players in one window.
In regards to Nunez, our valuation isn’t meeting realistic expectations with other clubs. Jota has passed but is still on our books for two years. Posters on here are talking about Ekitike but he is a work in process and 80 million.
.
As far as Guehi is concerned, why would a budding England international come here and risk sitting on the bench. He would clearly want to be a first choice. So the Konate issue becomes a real problem.
.
I agree Nunez has been struggling but will we gain anything from selling him cheap and spending big on someone who may or may not be that much better.
Hence the better play, if Guehi is comfortable, may be tio sign him on a free next summer when Konate leaves. This summer we sign a young back up CB who has a year to settle/challenge for a place.
