The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

He is reported as wanting to play on the left, so not sure he would be open to being Mr Versatile.

I think the bigger issue is he just wants to play. Despite his versatility offering Real some viable solutions to the problems their incredibly disjointed squad building has presented any manager there, he has often found himself missing out.

This is the paradox of versatile players. Despite being able to fit in across a range of roles they often get pushed aside for each of them the moment someone viewed as a specialist by the manager is available. So they end up being viewed as back up for everything but first choice for nothing. When you see players like Milly start to demand to be viewed in a specific role it is more a tactic to break this perspective of them than it is a real aversion to playing a different role. That is what it feels like is the case with Rodrigo. The challenge is I dont know we could offer him anything other than he already has at Real, other than maybe more games as an option in a collection of different roles.

Getting a bit tired of this constant Spanish speculation.

And posting BS from Reddit or AS. I’m sure I could post a twitter account that says we’re signing Mbappe and Saliba but I would never post such tripe

Just sell him for 50 - 60 million pounds and get Guehi if he doesnt want to stay. Cant keep losing players for free. Buy Guehi and younger under-study. Ask his agent to find a club who can match our valuation or ship him to Saudi. If he doesnt want to do either of this make him sit on the bench and this being world cup year he cant afford to hold us for a ransom.

It’s the unreliable rumour thread. You’re annoyed there’s an unreliable rumour in it?

By all means just ignore or block me if you don’t like my posts. No one is forcing you to read it :man_shrugging:

Hey, you don’t know my wife…

If Diaz does end up going, what would be a better replacement option, Rodrygo, at a presumed high price, and wage, or a Malik Fofana type, who should be much cheaper, but is a work in progress?

The thing is the last people to know about Liverpool’s thinking is AS and its shitty German counter part Bild.

Yeah let’s sell and then have to buy two CB’s and two forwards we’ve got about a month to do it. Fuck em. If they want to be cheap and get him in a year so be it. I wouldn’t give em the piss off my shoe.

And let’s get Guelhi anyhow as we need him to replace the fact we only have two.

The tactics gurus will know if this is utter shite…

But if we got an offer we couldn’t refuse for Diaz (we won’t, but hypothetically)… Would Rodrygo on the left with Cody moving central (with Flo in behind) be something workable?

One of the things about Rodrygo is his ability to play on the right, very effectively. With Mo at AFCON, he could be a very good option.

I’m not sure about Rodrygo. When he came through he looked very good, but for a while now he’s only been a bit part player, albeit for Real Madrid.

He might have the hunger to come and fight for us, and do very well, but I’m not sure about that. I think I would rather have someone on the up, who sees Liverpool as a step up in their career and is determined to make the most of the opportunity as they hit the big time with us.

Salah, Van Dijk, Alisson, Wirtz and others… all playing at a fantastic level to attract our interest, some of them at really good clubs too, but coming to Liverpool was a step up for them.

If we sign Rodrygo and he bosses it for us, there will be no complaints from me! But I think I would spend the money elsewhere.

Edit:
I’m also loathe to give Real Madrid any money.

According to Bilge, Bayern have made a laughable offer for Diaz. If that’s actually true, I’m sure the club’s reply will be short and to the point.

Bayern Munich have submitted a 52m euros (Ā£44.7m) bid for 28-year-old Liverpool and Colombia winger Luis Diaz. (Bild)

I’m pretty sure the club would have no problem in ā€˜sanctioning’ the transfer of Darwin Nunez.

Liverpool are ready to open talks over a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s French striker Hugo Ekitike, 23, even though the club need to sanction the transfer of Uruguay forward Darwin Nunez, 26, in order to facilitate a deal. (Givemesport), external

The Reds have been impressed by Ekitike but the price tag and 25-year-old Sweden striker Alexander Isak’s situation at Newcastle could also be factors in any deal. (Tbrfootball)

Romano casting his net pretty wide here. Apparently Rodrygo wants to stay in Europe. Ya think?

Real Madrid are open to letting Brazil winger Rodrygo leave this summer, but the club will leave the final decision to the 24-year-old, who wants to stay in Europe. (Fabrizio Romano)

Yeah, I doubt he’d make it in the A-League.

I think he’d be ok now that Kevin Muscunt has retired

The A league is brutal. Travelling up and down the favelas of the east coast, tracking through the vast remote interior with huge extremes of temperature and crazed fans who knows their joga Bonito from their jog on Benny. The pressure to match, forget about eclipse previous legends like Steve McMahon (Jnr), Scott Gemil, Yuning Zhang, Bobby Petta and Brian Deane.

Nah he’d be certifiable to take on all that.

If tackles don’t kill him, the snakes and spiders will.

I mean, Bild isn’t fit to wrap your Currywurst in, but for that amount, we would be better off keeping him for two years and letting him go on a free.
