The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

For me, it’s always been the unfavourable comparison with Mane. He’s a really good player but never hit Mane’s heights (or the heights of his pre-injury performances). With Kerkez and possibly Szoboszlai covering the left flank, the possible new winger probably wouldn’t have to run himself into the ground as hard as Diaz - instead, he would have to be more of a goalscorer and creator, to put it rather simplistically.

I think a lot of that would be offset by the insurance arrangements Liverpool would have had against the player.

And if the PL were to get involved in that the optics would be appalling.

Book valuation and transfer fee have nothing to do with the question though. The question was in regards to the remainder of his contract.

And according to FIFA regulations, the contract is terminated as if it had expired naturally.

Yes, as I said, the contract is frustrated. That’s the correct legal term for a contract coming to an end due to it no longer being possible to perform; in this case due to the death of one of the parties.

No.

Ah, ok, I didn’t know about that phrase.

Yeah in legal terms frustration is pretty serious. So if you marry a lawyer and they say they are ‘frustrated’ with you watch the fuck out.and check they don’t have underworld connections.

Well at least now we know who all this Isak and Ekitike stuff has been a smokescreen for …

If this is true, this is some commitment for taking ownership of your career!

It’s from BILD.

so technically, even though Diogo is forever our champion 20, he can’t sadly directly influence proceedings on the pitch, so to assist him we are bringing in Hugo.

Does that mean, assuming we are selling Darwin, that we would make another play for Isak?

Unlikely.

It looks like the Isak enquiry was a way to get NUFC out of the Etikite discussion.

Rather successful.

BBC are saying that signing Ekitike would be unlikely to end our interest in Isak

That’s strange to be honest. Where is all this money coming from? and have we just spent 80(?)m on a backup?

They’re saying we might go back in for Isak in January or next summer.

Was Isak interest a smokescreen?

Liverpool’s interest in Isak was - or rather is - entirely genuine. Newcastle, at least publicly, have maintained their Sweden international simply isn’t for sale.

But for Liverpool to have stepped up their efforts to land Isak in recent days suggests they have had some private encouragement to the contrary.

Even if their decision to focus on Ekitike comes to fruition, you can expect Liverpool’s interest in Isak to remain.

The former Real Sociedad forward, as things stand, will enter the final two years of his contract next summer - a juncture where Newcastle face significantly more jeopardy.

Of course, Liverpool, with or without Ekitike, may enter next summer’s transfer window believing they don’t require another centre forward.

But if they do, then Isak is unlikely to be too far away from their thoughts.

Ah ok, keep him simmering

Right now, after Ekitike (palindrome of a name) we need a CB

And I’m guessing a slew of outgoings too to offset some of this spending.

Nunez
Tsimikas
Morton
Elliott (possibly)
Doak (probably)
Chiesa (maybe)

Then deal with the Diaz situation if Bayern cough up £80m+

Selling Diaz now makes no sense what so ever. He would need replacing in terms of squad numbers and quality which is costing what you sell him for if not more.
