The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Villa fan hurt itself in its confusion!

They see other clubs spending (including clubs who finished below them) whilst their club is having to sell the likes of Emi and Watkins, and they make up wild conspiracies about a top four cabal. It’s just misdirected anger stemming from not really understanding FPR.

This is from the start of the summer:

It’s likely we will probably be another 100m down which still probably leaves us about 8th

This is exactly what the arseholes on’t 'caf have been wailing for a few weeks now.

Both our knockers and the negative nellies among our fan base should take a lesson from this. What we are now seeing is the upside of having high standards on when and on whom we spend our money. We are able to do this precisely because when there were calls to stretch in previous summers and add more depth we were very judicious in what we were willing to do. It means when we see something we want we start with more money in our pocket and less need to sell to buy (at a loss).

We have earned the ability to buy Wirtz at the cost of not following through on fan demands to just sign someone, such as Sancho when he was at Dortmund.

All the other fan whining is just odd.

We’re replacing two full backs who cost us a combined £8m and have been mainstays for 6-7 years. We literally lost a player out the blue in tragic circumstances.

Then Nunez will fetch a good chunk of what we spent on Ekitike. Kelleher covers half what we spent on Mamardashvili. Quansah will cover a good chunk of whatever we spend on his replacement. Then there are fees for Trent, Tsimikas/Robbo, Morton, Elliott and Doak. That’s £100m easy.

I reckon we’ll be around £150m-£200m net having been in profit last summer. If that outlay had been split over two summers no one would bat an eyelid.

What’s really bothering them is no one got close to us in the league last year and they’re worried what might happen next season now we’ve made upgrades in every area of the pitch and the manager has a season under his belt too.

I also think that supporters of other clubs don’t recognize that FSG have spent the last several years upgrading Anfield and building up Kirkby. Now that the bulk of that is finished, they’ve got more resources to put into transfer fees and wages.

great to see you re insert this joke, its quite hard to get something like this up and running again, virtually introducing it via the back door, i know the site admin doesnt like the same pun being played over and over, but it would be a bit stiff if the mods pulled you off mod duties over it

Looks like we have cooled our interest in Hato.

I honestly can’t remember a single transfer window with so many additions. We must be seriously wanting to compete in just about any competition possible.
.
Other than CB we have updated every other position. I fail to see why Díaz and Konate would swap this team for someone else.

Hato is a Good player, with a slight question mark over his size for the Prem at cb. If we sign Guehi at least he is proven. Can’t sign them all!

They really, really miss Trent.

I’d forgotten they had signed him so i’m not suret. The rumours do seem to have quietened down on that front though.

I’m wondering whether they would have invested like this after the 2020 championship if it hadn’t been for the pandemic.

TBH, I am a bit worried that it is too much now, but we seem to be seeing upgrades rather than replacements. Should be an interesting season.
