From what I’ve read, he’s already earning something like €10m per year at RM. No ways LFC are paying that kind of money to one player.
I just couldn’t see Klopp making wholesale changes to a squad like this.
In saying that it’s definitely Slots year. Last year looked like he was assessing the squad and now it looks like a re-build.
.
I imagine this year there will be some pressure on Slot in the media world
A lot of these changes are forced. Trent , Diaz , Nunez , A LB , the CF replacement for Jota.
We’ve been forced into these changes. If Klopp were here , he probably would have had to make these changes too.
That’s about £166k per week. Why would we not pay that? Salah on £20m per year
It’s actually being reported as 10m net, which given the tax rate in the UK equates to more than £240k pw.
Which, while not completely obscene, is still a lot for a new signing yet to prove himself for us.
Is that taking into account the very helpful “Beckham law”? Because he may be coming to the end of that being applicable - it counts for the first year, and following 5 years. So he may might be about to start paying more tax if he stays in Spain. Though who am I kidding? There will likely be other ways and means to pay less tax for those who can afford it.
Diaz and Nunez aren’t forced.
Diaz by wanting to leave does make it a forced transfer.
And Nunez’s transfer out is over due.
It’s all good when sportwashing. But doing it properly is underhand.
Without trying to poo poo Jurgen, his love for “his boys” meant he was unwilling to do what needed to be done. It came to show when we failed to capitalise on our successes due to keeping a midfield that was running in treacle.
The changes being made now - mostly needed. Next 2-3 windows will see very little activity too I suspect.
No it doesn’t Diaz can want ever he wants we don’t have to sell him. Nunez transfer is overdue but we are selling him so its not forced.
Jota is forced, Trent also.
All others are a combination of our decisions and interest from the transfer market.
And Roberson and Nunez.
The only opinion I hold regarding Rodrygo… is whenever we faced RM, I was never bothered by this guy being in their side.
As in, I never feared he was capable of tearing our defence apart..!
Robertson will eventually have to be replaced, so the move to bring in someone makes sense. However, how is replacing Nunez a forced move?
I think we are highly attractive, successful and a great culture. That’s why people want to join but that’s why it’s hard to shift Robbo, Elliot etc. anywhere else is a step down.
Shifting Robbo would free up good wages.
No disrespect to him.
How are they.
Far be it for me to put words into the mouth of a Greek God, but I think he means Darwin’s move has been forced by his form.
Each circumstance is different and I’m not sure how you could predict what Klopp would do in this circumstance, based on what he did in a different one..
A bit befuddling for me seeing some of us fretting over “too many signings”…
You always have to look at the context. What is the club doing here?
We are clearly building towards the post Salah/VVD/Allison years. We are also building on a championship winning position AND a healthy PSR.
That is the context..
Having established that, the question then is the actual decision on players and if/where they fit.
Each one, thus far, has been very targeted. But these also have to be complemented by the departures…
