The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Depends on how you look at it. You could argue that he was given exposure to first-team football first, then stepped in properly when he was expected to be a squad player.

Or maybe you should stop viewing players as “injury-prone” or not, and accept that sometimes some players have recurring injuries that are related, sometimes players have injuries that are related but not the same, mostly due to overcompensation for previous injuries, or sometimes players pick up completely random injuries, or sometimes players pick up injuries because of how they play.

It’s like looking at Gerrard’s early years and concluding he would not have a career.

I think we saw that as Bradley’s role? Certainly looked like he was doing that in pre-season…

Nope. It is a domestic play as well. Had a convo with a ex-Saudi colleague(as in fucked off to US) of mine the other day, and the whitewashing is to do with the local populace as well.

Giving them something to feel happy about without giving them what they actually need.

Sorry is there any suggestion that the Saudi population is about to revolt or something ? I mean if anything I’d imagine they would start a revolt over the fact that MBS as you say is a reformist…

But as far as I know they haven’t taken to the streets burning stuff down , because he has reformed the country to such an extent that women are allowed to drive :joy:.

Sorry but the football infatuation for Saudi is just an ego thing and nothing more in which they will get bored of it all within 5-10 years if not months

I don’t know how we ended up here…

I started by saying how I’m worried about our situation overall in defence, where we might have people like Endo, Bajcetic and Quansah needing to do a job soon if there’s an injury or two. No matter how versatile is Endo, how promising is Bajcetic and how talented Quansah is, that is not great.

Bringing a defender in wouldn’t necessarily block nothing for Quansah potential to make it here. Making the team better is always the priority rather than individual cases. Maybe the club does look at him like a top talent, I cannot comment, I have very little evidence. Either way, nothing will block him if he proves to be good enough. He has basically moved Nat out of the way and looks like he might get a few games this season. Matip will also leave at the end of this season.

As for Gomez, we’ll see if Bradley is staying or not, but so far Gomez will obviously stay as a defender who will cover at CB and RB. When he’s called up to do a job at RB, he doesn’t have to play it like Trent.

We’ll just have to hope that us going a bit shorther in defence and with more numbers than needed in midfield will be okay. Because people (Endo, Bajcetic) might have to drop in defence if there’s shit happening with injuries.

We’re looking at it from the outside as a joke. That’s what it is.

But for people inside the regime , this is something different.

There’s nothing like being able to boast about the country. Nationalism and all that shit.

Liverpool had their share of luck in winning the league then itself. Luck in the sense that City didn’t buy someone to substitute for Laporte once he got injured.

A share of luck… That’s what it was… Something going right , not the major factor when we fucking won every match though.

And considering how much the Saudi royal family earned from oil for a good period. This is a small pittance on how much they are paying to keep the masses deluded.

So Saudi Arabia is catching up with the western world: it’s using football as a weapon of mass distraction.

Pretty much. Football , wrestling, golf , F1 , cricket. Name it.

Sounds like it’s press resistant

That’s quite the odd take though when you think about it in the competitive context. Literally every single team has those weaknesses, even City. It’s just that people have so much PTSD over literally every single defender being injured in 2020-21, or the fact that we lost basically almost all our forwards and midfielders last season.

Take away the 2 starting defenders from any team and you’ll have significant squad issues “if there’s an injury or two”.

with a lot of money

He’s an accomplished bum. It was a bum rap on that assist.

they go up to or close to 200 million, with most of it upfront. I will fly Mo to Saudi Arabia myself

Again. 275m too less.

You and the president of UEFA seem to agree on that, so you’re in good company, according to today’s BBC Sports.

If Saudis come back with £175m-£200m. The club sell.
