The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

So what number would make it worth it?

Think the “everyone knows you’re flush” point is a bit moot. We bid £111m for Caicedo and teams haven’t held us over a barrel since. Same when we had the Coutinho money.

Do agree though, CL qualification is an absolute must and we want to give ourselves the best chance of that and that means keeping Salah here.

But there’s a number. There’s always a number…

Hypothetically, if Salah is sold totally against Klopp’s wishes, would anyone blame him if he said “fuck this, I quit”?

Number is 1

1st of June next summer.

No other club challenging for top 4 are unstrengthing itself like us.

Also if we’ve got the money to do that deal why do we need more money now? We don’t, we can do with it next summer but what’s the point now?

Again, I can’t argue with any of that.

But there’s still a point where it becomes impossible to say no. Could we conceivably turn down say a £500m now or never offer?

There’s a tipping point somewhere.

Was a stat on twitter/X other day saying since signing Salah has scored 37% of all our goals in that period.

no one will turn down a 500m offer.

Well we already know one of the others are keen on going after him next summer.

I’d also like to see how it’s broken down.

This was 100m plus 50m of add ons that’s frankly crap.

They would just be back next summer, they may even be back next week. Would you want Alisson to go? Perhaps a couple of our defenders. I’m sure our youth team is stocked like.

It’s on ITV, I believe.

FSG is tone-deaf but not daft like that…

Will Liverpool take the trade though?

You would hope the club would be prepared for this, with the groundwork done for a replacement.

Seriously you seen what happened since they bought two players who were becoming surplus.

They will deserve all the wrath they get if they sell now. I’ve generally stood up for them but their planning has been poor this summer and putting a lot of pressure on the players there.

And who is to say they won’t come back next week.

Not talking about next summer, I’m just interested at what point people would see it being in our best interest this summer. You’re free to say “no fee is worth it” if that’s your belief.

No one is advocating selling off a slew of players so there’s no need to bring that into the conversation.

Today, there is no fee that is worth it.

If they get towards £250m I think it becomes hard to turn down.

No one is but what if they say 200m for Alisson next week?

You put a foot down and send a clear message.

I don’t really care if the club can only get 100m next summer.

I am pretty certain they will get more mind.

Even in June I would have been open to it.

Not now.

Honestly the money in football is so beyond fucked I just don’t care anymore. I don’t care if we get £20m for a player or £200m. I just want us to keep our best players who I enjoy watching. So Ali and Salah right now are priceless cos I’d rather watch them on a Sunday afternoon than have a billion more dollars in John Henry’s account

Coutinho was pretty fun to watch too once upon a time…

Then with that money we signed players like Ali, only difference was we starting to win things again, and it doesn’t get more enjoyable than that.

You can always put a positive/negative spin towards a negative/position statement.

So who do you sign if you sell Ali or Salah?

And we sold him 6 months after his strop got the same price we brought in VVD and could have made other purchases that month.
