The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

Well Ali stays as there’s no offer or immediate interest for him…every player has his price and 200m for Mo is just ridiculous, even those that would hate to see him go have to admit.

There aren’t many top class right wingers out there at the moment & even less, probably none that could take over his goals/assists, Madrid didn’t bother signing a striker to replace the goals of Benzema and Spurs the same with Harry…the goals will be equally spread between the forwards, but personally I’d be going after both Chiesa and Hakimi. I think that’s as good a pairing down the right side you could muster up.

I have reservations about the summer transfer window thus far. While we’ve successfully signed two very good players early on, the subsequent signings probably haven’t quite played out as well.

It’s evident that we needed to reinforce our squad significantly, especially considering the player departures on top. Unfortunately, what we’ve witnessed is a display of inexperience, lack of foresight, and poor planning and execution.

Nonetheless, it’s essential to look forward. No point dwelling too much on the past despite how recent.
Parting ways with Salah at this juncture would undoubtedly weaken our team and diminish our chances of success this season. Moreover, it raises questions about the message this conveys to our team, potential future recruits, and the season’s overall prospects. There’s a cost associated with that as well.

Every player comes with a price tag, and a £150m to £200m sale of Salah, if it gets there, would be a lucrative deal. However, it’s crucial to have a clear plan for reinvesting those funds wisely. If this happens. Hopefully, the club has taken more thoughtful consideration of this situation. If this had been a month ago, the likelihood of his departure would have been much higher.

If Salah is indeed sold for a substantial amount, whoever we target, the selling club will factor this in. Might be a case of strengthening a few positions. In light of this, it becomes imperative for the club to be prepared.

It’s a tough conundrum. I would probably sell Mo today, for 200M, but it would be an easier decision if we had a replacement lined up.

If we did not have a replacement, we would be looking at possibly Nunez on the right, with Gakpo in the middle, and Diaz on the left. That trio would be backed up by Jota and Doak until the transfer window opens again. Or arguably, Szoboszlai could play on the right.

I still think that would be enough to get us CL football, and we could add another wide forward in January if we can’t get someone in now.

However, if selling Salah now proved to be the difference between finishing in the CL spots or not, then you wouldn’t do it. And while we don’t know where we would finish in the league, it definitely weakens us on the pitch.

The Saudis will still want Mo Salah next summer, when we can do our business in a more orderly fashion, rather than this last day bollocks where potentially, it looks like the Saudis are trying to asset strip us.

Which leads me to ask why? They have wanted Mo Salah all along. Why try to do a deal now, and leave us in a position where we can’t spend the money?

In addition to the obvious answer of strengthening their own league with the capture of the world’s best and most high profile Muslim player, they also want to weaken us to improve the chances of Newcastle finishing ahead of us.

We should be under no illusions that Salah seemingly would want this deal, his agent has said it ain’t happening and being cynical as we all are we know not to trust what an agents says …

But the fact that Saudi has come back with increased offers throughout the day and by some big increases btw , would suggest to me at least this is because a green light has been given by his representatives that he wants it , if that is the case then he can fuck off just like anyone else who wants out , they are only legends when they play for this club , soon as they leave , they are but distant memories & shadows of their previous selves.

Imo sell him, get the squad balanced out in all area’s that are needed…and we will bounce back stronger, one of the many things that to me encompasses “the Liverpool way”.

Salah will be gone , to a league that no-one really watches for it’s football , whilst we are challenging for cups and titles with the proceeds of the sale …and he’ll be left alone with his memories of the kop, we will be left with new legends in the making.

Vinicius Junior or Kvaratskhelia (from my limited viewing) would both be good options. However don’t see Vinicius Junior going and Napoli wouldn’t be easy dealing with.

Rodrygo possibly. Leao possibly. Raphinha possibly. Haven’t seen enough of him at Barcelona.

They haven’t though they put a bid in yesterday verbally and we said no and said that’s it.

Since then they’ve spent the whole day putting out various numbers.

One thing I’d say about the other deals is they came in reasonably early.

Rather deal with clubs like that than these who are just bullies

Yeah but that’s where I see they have had encouragement, they have allegedly come back from their initial offer of £118 million and have since come in with apparently a £200 million offer …if they had no encouragement along the way , they would not be increasing the offer by £82 million .

And just for clarity…they made Mbappe an offer that would make the Mo offer look look average ( if such can be said about the absurdity of transfers)…they basically got the hint somehow that he wanted no part of it, and henceforth didn’t continue to pester for improved contracts etc.

With mo they have been increasing the offers as the hours have ticked by…just my thoughts :joy:

200mil pounds would be a world record right? Just fucking give us 300mil and it’s done, stop increasing little by little

Have they though?

And it was 100m plus 50m add ons.

"However, the likelihood remains that, having finally tabled a bid after a week of speculation, Al-Ittihad will return with a larger offer to test Liverpool’s resolve. Money is no object for Al-Ittihad, who are one of four Saudi teams backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund, and figures of £175 million to £200 million have been mooted.- ****

The transfer window in Saudi Arabia closes on September 7 and there is the potential for the saga to rumble on. Liverpool, however, would not have the opportunity to bring in any reinforcements until January in the event of them relenting now.
Al-Ittihad will take part in the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia in December and want Salah as a showpiece signing.

The fact that Al-Ittihad formalised their interest would appear to indicate that Salah is also receptive to joining the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and former Liverpool team-mates Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino in the Middle East." Paul Joyce (The Times)

Doesn’t mean we have to sell.

Just guess work isn’t it.

Why don’t PIF just bid 10b for Liverpool???

Ah well they don’t want to sell that.

200mp all up front. No matter how well we do this year it’s unlikely Mo is gonna bring in that much

Don’t sell Salah for any price. It is too late, if they wanted him so much, their offer should have arrived at least 2 weeks earlier. Selling Mo will mean total capitulation of our club and even more - they will betray Klopp. Juergen said that Salah is not far sale, enough said.

I can’t see City selling Rodri or Arsenal selling Saka today even for 200 mln. pounds. Mo is our best player by a mile, he is one of the leaders of this new and young group. He is morphing into something new this season - the assist king, those two assists vs. Chelsea and Newcastle were fabulous.

We already lost important players on and off the pitch - Milner, Bobby, Hendo, Fabinho. If the club have made the right moves earlier and had already signed a type of player/s like Doku, Barcola, Kvaratskhelia, Leao, Mitoma /several left wingers, but that is the type of player we should have signed to even contemplate selling Salah/, a transfer to Saudi Arabia could have been a possibility. But not now, next summer with a better planning and a preparation from the club and the scouts is ok, now will be madness and stupidity.

Keep Salah and shut the fucking shop. LFC is not a super market for rich guys from Saudi Arabia. Otherwise FSG will once again show why they must sell the club to a owner with real ambition to turn the club into a real title contender.

this will probably carry on past our deadline. So they will take their time and submit when ready since they still have a week in their window

End of the day, open to a move and actively pushing are two different things.

Or maybe it’s just so they can destabilise our team, along with stirring up discord with the fans who are falling for it hook, line, and sinker?
