The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 3)

He’s been playing at RB but I’m not sure he’s really an option there for a Premier League club. I’ve seen him get walked around by too many wingers this season. It’s actually his athleticism I question, his change of direction and agility is a bit lacking especially for that role.

On the ball he’s very good though. At youth level he’s always been a CM.

I’d be happy for Thiago to stay beyond the season in a coaching role, he was a fantastic midfielder with a great footballing brain. If he wants to play elsewhere then that’s fine.

I haven’t watched anything of Andre, however someone comparing him to Mascherano gets my loins happy.

Maybe he should do that now.

Every thread is littered with scathing comments about Thiago and his fitness.
Pretty sure its undeserved

If we were labelling Thiago as a lazy player fair enough.

At this point to suggest any comment about his injury levels being poor that are undeserved I think you need to be a bit silly.

A fantastic player and who had to overly push himself because certain others strolled around like it was a kick about in a Sunday.

*stares at Fabinho

Your comment “maybe he should do that now” is a bit unfair?

This was also always my thinking he always seemed to give his all and also was trying to do others running defensively, i was also surprised with his high tackling stats which were amongst the highest in the league.

The whole city or just the club?

Maybe he should think about coaching, perhaps he should, he’s been injured for almost 7/8 months now with what we aren’t sure is.

I like the guy and when fit he is great but I sadly feel he has played his last game for us, if he wants to be a coach it might be worth him working on that now. He can still be a player/coach. Not sure his body plays out even in MLS.

Isnt it a hip/groin problem which is always an intricate and complicated area and recovery can be long

It’s always something new isn’t it though.

And he isn’t getting younger. Anyhow I think it’s best this is discussed in his thread.

Unless that area is the physio treatment room

He has had this issue quite a while and I think the surgery was to sort it out but the recovery isn’t working atm

Where would Todibo rate in relation to the central defenders we already have?

Matip is playing very well at the moment, but let’s say he leaves when his contract is finished at the end of the season. Where does Todibo rank in relation to:

Van Dijk
Konate
Gomez
Quansah
Todibo

And for those who have seen him play, what’s his game like?

Cheers.

Edit, while I’m commenting on central defenders, has Van Den Berg shown enough on loan that we should be welcoming him back into the group? Or is he not there yet, but is progressing, so more loan needed? Or is he not going to make it to the level we need, so we should probably sell?

Todibo was wank at Barcelona but maybe a case of making the big move too soon.

Sepp is playing regularly Mainz. But I don’t know if he is proving to be good enough us. Five yellow cards in 11 games,

Obviously there are also a few other factors.

Gomez could be regarded “only” or mainly as a backup RB next season, but that also might depend if Bradley (or Ramsay) is good enough to remain. And potentially what happens with Trent, because so far he’s still a RB who comes infield, not all the time, in the possession phase.

Tsimi is under a fresh contract, a few months after we were apparently looking at a LCB (who could potentially do a job at LB: maybe a Hincapie type). Of course, a new contract doesn’t block us from selling him, but obviously it means that we’re counting on him + protecting his value.

Quansah is promising so far, a right footer playing only LCB so far (could be even better at RCB, we’ll see). If he can save us a few quid and show he can be with us next season, great.

I wouldn’t renew with Matip and even if Quansah remains, we do need to sign a CB.

Virgil is back to his best and Konate both needs competition and isn’t playing enough games in his top flight career so far. Before the start of this season, he’s been averaging 24.6 games in all competitions in 6 years of top flight football for two clubs. Availability not good enough, for a defender in the first and now middle part of his career.
