The Unreliable LFC Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

What are the chances Utd finally go all in on Rabiot now?

The French club released a statement Tuesday saying both players were available for transfer “due to unacceptable behaviour in the dressing room after the match against Stade Rennais FC, in agreement with the technical staff and in accordance with the club’s internal code of conduct.”“I wasn’t in the dressing room but the staff who were told me it was incredible, violent, aggressive and went beyond any limits,” Longoria added.
France international midfielder Rabiot, 30, and England under-21 international winger Rowe, 22, were expelled from the first-team squad by head coach Roberto De Zerbi on Monday, ESPN reported.“I think we all have enough experience to say we have never seen anything like it in a dressing room … Even in the worst punch-ups there are rules,” Longoria said. “Not in this case.”

If Isak comes in Elliott will probably go, Tsimi is probably going anyhow. I think the club needs a CB and a forward and we will be short without but yeah we don’t need 4-5 right backs in case one gets injured. Endo is a perfectly fine 4th choice right back as he is a perfectly fine 5th choice CB.

Frimpong, Bradley, Gomez, Jones, Szoboszlai. Endo.

Right back. Right back. Back up right back/centre back. Versatile midfielder, athletic, has done a decent job at right back in a pinch. Same again Szobo. And now finally as the sixth choice, Endo, a break glass sort of option, but nevertheless an option for right back. Gets stuck in, likes a tackle, experienced.

This is plenty of depth at right back!

We need another forward and another central defender and we should be good to go this season. Let’s see what irons Hughes might have in the fire.

Normally when you strength the first 11 the players replaced become your back ups. But we have moved on lasts starters and kept the same back ups which is a weird logic.

Ground work been done for an unforgettable end to the window.

I think that happens far less often than fans believe. Displaced starters often want to leave - or the incoming players come in to replace someone already leaving. There is also the financial impact on the club from carrying the salaries.

Well the only starter we’ve sold is Diaz.

Quansah was back up, Nunez was back up (well he was a starter at some point but had even become back up under Klopp). Trent left so not sure we could do much about that. Kelleher was back up.

I think it will be Gomez if fit.

Exactly

Endo was woeful at right back he got skinned a few times. Szoboszlai is wasted and think back to Milner not being too happy playing that role. And I wasn’t saying buy a 4th rightback so stop putting words in my mouth (Mascot). I was saying we’re already suffering injuries in a team with less than a full complement and having to think creatively where we can play players who are less than optimal in those positions.

Agreed. We should probably think about something like whether Dom would be any good at RB.

We have two injuries and one player who has just returned from injury but not yet really fit to play - all in the same position. That’s why we’re having to consider playing someone else there. Having more players is unlikely to change that because we’re unlikely to be buying more right backs. And playing Szob there for example will not leave us short in other parts of the field (although I’m sure @zoran will be along to mention his pressing lead .)

Yeah, a midfield of Gravenberch, Mac Allister and Wirtz is not too shabby. Hopefully Joe is fit enough to come on for the last half hour.

Did you even read what I wrote? Or understand it? Tell me a club that has an amazing 5th choice defender who is stocked everywhere else.

Nunez started 31, Jota 11 thats what you have not replaced.

It’s not how many minutes but what contribution you have to replace that’s 5 goals and 3 assists and Chiesa already has one goal.

Jota was 6 and 4, I loved him but nethier player had a great season and you would expect someone like Isak to contribute that himself. As I said I think we were already overloaded on forwards.

Get someone like Isak in and I would say it’s fine.

Also I’m going bang on about Wirtz here who will add a completely different dimension who will contribute goals and assists, he’s not effectively replacing anyone bar Elliott.

You have lost with Diaz on top 26 league goals and replaced it with a 22 year old in his first season in England. I know he has started well but Dom did too but dramatically tailed off in his first season.

In June all the talk was about building a destiny now we are in a vulnerable position of our own making.

We sold Diaz and bought Etikite, anyone we buy could turn shit but that’s the signing we have bought.

We’ve also bought Wirtz but people who seem to moaning like yourself don’t seem to even include him in your maths.

We need a player like Isak, we don’t need anything beyond that up top just in case Hugo is shit.

Wirtz scored 10 and assisted 13 but I assume we just write that off because it’s Bundesliga.

Nunez scored 26 assisted 4 stats from other league’s are pointless.
