Just a point on the busiest time of the year… it’s no busier than many other parts of the first 3 months. September to March is pretty much a game every 3 days. Or 2 in 7 especially when taking into account that pretty much our entire side are internationals.
With Wirtz, Frimpong, Jones, Chiesa and potentially Dom we will have enough with one additional signing otherwise someone’s going sit out large periods just to be around for a month or two when Salah goes away.
It’s not a massive concern for me not when compared to central defence.
First, I would like to say that I did not expect the massive spending from the club. Well done to FSG. I have been critical too many times with them, but not untill now.
Still it sounds strange, but I don’t have the feeling that we are a better team at the momenct compared to the team tha won the title in May. We lost three very, very important players - TAA, Diaz and Jota. Frimpong is a very good signing, but he will need more time and fans must understand that he is very deifferent type of full back compared with Trent. Kerkez is one of my favourite fullbacks in the league, but I am hopeful that Slott chooses to keep some continuity at least at the start of the season with Robbo.
In defence we look really unbalanced - three left backs, three central defenders /two of them missing regularly mat ches with injuries/ and two right backs /one of them is injured more and more frequently lately/ . We definitely need at least one center back. Otherwise the similarities with 2020/2021 season will be glaring. At that time we started with Virgil, Gomez and Matip. Klopp explained that there is no problem and if necessary he will use Fabinho as the 4th center back /put Endo or Gravenberch now I heard the same words by Slot/. We all know how it ended. We desperately need 1 quality center back and hopefully new contract signed with Konate.
In midfield things look fine in my opinion - Endo, MacAllister, Jones, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Wirtz.
Attack is my next big concern - the deal for Nunez is very good and I am glad with it. Looks like Ekitike is the player to replace Darwin. Salah and Gakpo will be the only players left from last season’s attack. Rio is a fine prospect, but I don’t believe that people think that he is Diaz’s deputy. What about Jota’s replacement, the boy scored so many important goals for us season after season. Chiesa will probabbly leave too and that will be best for all parties concerned.
At least I am hopeful that the club will keep Doak. Frimpong is a decent option to replace Salah, but who will play right back? Bradly is constantly injured, same is valid for Gomez too. And if Joe plays full back what will be our options in central defence?
Sounds crazy, but I don’t think we need Isak, great forward, but injury prone and he is not as versatile as Diaz and Jota. I am hopefull that the club will look at players like Barcola, Rodrygo ot similar type of players. If we keep Doak and with Rio, one new versatile attacking player and central defender will be fine.
Practically a new team with 6-7 new boides and I will know that this will be a transitional period for LFC, but aftr the title I am ready to wait, but please don’t make the same mistakes and start a long and grualling season with only 3 center backs
If Chiesa was on the market now, with our current situation, you’d have to think we’d be interested. Experience at the highest level, two footed, can play on either wing.
The only concern is his fitness, but he’s clearly been working hard on it and only our backroom staff really know about that.
I don’t know why so many people want us to sell him right now.
If the choice was Chiesa or giving the likes of Doak / Rio more minutes.
I’d choose keeping Doak and giving Rio more minutes.
But I like Chiesa. I’ve seen him quite a bit and he’s a sensational talent when at his best. If we can get the minutes out of him this season that Jota got last season. That’s a win in my book. I do think his playing style suits the football that we want the club to play.
There was a lot of talk that he is defensively suspect, and based on the pre season I don’t really see that. Yes, he can can stranded up the pitch, but if at least look like he is willing to try and get back, which is an improvement on what we had.
I think the talk of him being defensively suspect had to do a lot with his responsibilities in Leverkusen.
And the last thing I would want for Chiesa is for us to put in so much work w.r.t his fitness on him and for him to go to another team and entirely light it up there.
Unfortunately we don’t know where we stand with Chiesa really but the club should have an idea. Even near the end of the season he hardly got picked and he was left behind on the tour this pre-season. Makes it look worryingly like he won’t be playing more and should be sold but maybe it was just a precaution and the club feels he will be good for more time this season. If we keep him I hope it’s for that reason and not because we couldn’t find someone to buy him.
Because he’s no longer a shiny new toy
I don’t know what Chiesa’s wishes might be. Perhaps he would rather go back to Italy and see more action, rather than barely play at Liverpool?
For what it’s worth, I half wonder if he might go to Parma, to sweeten the pot if we are thinking of moving for Leoni?
How many more signings do I think we will make? Two or three.
A striker and a central defender would be the minimum. Isak and Guehi would be nice. Then we could possibly do with another forward option, someone who is versatile, or at least can play off the right. Possibly someone who won’t demand too many minutes just yet, as there will be great options ahead of them in the pecking order. I’m still on the Fofana bus for additional depth.
Fofana and Rio would be 5th-6th in the pecking order, making a contribution and seeing useful minutes, but the four main ones would be Salah, Isak, Ekitike and Gakpo.
I think some of it may be down to fears that he can’t stay fit.
Well, the clubs physios know best and I guess if they think he’s a crock, he’ll be sold, but as far as we know, he isn’t.
In the latest bits of Inside training he looks very fit and rapid tbf. Maybe they edited it or whatever but he looks really sharp atm tbf.
Well, we have to wait and see but I am still hoping he is staying now tbh.
Plus if we go ahead and sign that young Italian defender that’s being reported and he’s as good as they say then having Chiesa here makes it so much easier for the kid to acclimatise.
1, He’s going to Inter.
2, I doubt the club would make a major personnel decision based on something like that.
Newcastle are after him too

He’s on a four year contract , so as long as the club feels he’s needed he’s not likely going anywhere.
With Bradley still injured and his tendency to pick up niggles any centre back signing needs to be able to slide into right back too.
Yeah that would really answer my point if I’d been concerned at all about him leaving because his contract was running down.
