What a time to be alive…first in the new thread, but its a world cup, and our managers not even started yet.

Meanwhile, Spurs strong activity early this window is somewhat startling…two years relegation scrapping, but still able to brng in Van Hecke (tbc), Senesi, and Robbo into their defence…significantly improves them.

I know I’m impatient, but those are two CBs id take…and over Van de Ven as an option.

We have been linked to Basaksehir’s Abbosbek Fayzullaev…22 Uzbek who plays in Turkey.

Seems like PSG’s winger Bradley Barcola handed in a transfer request.

Dunno if it’s true but if it is should Liverpool be interested in Barcola?

Use the door?

The transfer window is the only thing they have a chance of winning.

Sensei and Robbo would be squad players for us at best. Both have their best days behind them and are short term gap pluggers. Van Hecke is a decent defender but is he replacing one of Romero or van de Ven who both seem very open to leaving?

Not seeing huge improvements there, just a couple freebies and a decent CB, albeit an overpriced one given he only had a year left.

Romero seemed to be a red card in waiting so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him moved on. Hopefully with signings like Van Hecke and Senesi we see a less thuggish Spurs next season.

I’d love Barcola, his style is very attractive and still has all his best years ahead of him.

He’d be my #1 pick for the wide forwards out there.

Even got the dress sense too.

Given the make up of our CBs, I’d not be opposed to a short term stop gap type. Senesi is 29, has PL experience, and from what I’ve seen, more than competent. Van Hecke I like, albeit I agree the price is a touch high for a player with one year left on his deal.

Don’t really want to see us go into the new season with our CB options as Virgil, Gomez, Jacquet, and Leoni. We could do with a player in that 25-30 year age range. Gomez may well look to be off too.

I think we need to dip into the CB market - I’d like Scholtterbeck, who has been linked by Mundo Deportivo to Real Madrid in the last day or so. He’s reportedly (via Florian Plettenberg (reportedly)) got a release clause that a select few clubs can trigger (including us).

Not many more out there to get excited. Lacroix seems competent, who’s been linked before, as has Lukeba (but young/no PL experience).

If only Hughes hadn’t pissed about with getting the Marc Guehi deal over the line last year!

Honestly Im pretty sure I went to raves back in the early 90s in not dissimilar garb. Anyone remember the old G Force jeans that were like wearing a tent on each leg?

Isak is the starter… he’ll play whenever he is available. Gakpo or Danns will likely play as the backup if he is healthy. Morrison, yeah… he should be given game time but he won’t likely start.

Diomande is 19 years old as well. .. after one season everyone is raving. We will never consistently develop our own Diomande unless we give them chances (provided we don’t overplay them if they are still growing).

So yeah, I get your point that many of our top youngsters are unproven… but if we don’t give them the chance over someone who is proven ineffective, than what is the point?

Because there are people who are professionals who decide (and yes, mistakes are sometimes made or players need time or a different environment) who merits a chance at the highest level, depending on many factors, one of which is: level of talent.

Not everyone can get a chance here or the same amount of chances. Few will get it and make it here. It’s simply the reality. Another kid of Ngumoha’s age or older cannot get the same amount of chances here as him, as an example.

For us fans, we only have games to judge. And that’s only for ourselves. For them players, the chance is every day in training sessions. There are steps to make and some players make those steps quicker, because they show it on a daily basis and it’s then hard to ignore.

Diomande might be one of those talents that could make it to the top from very different paths, if he’s that talented. Not everyone is.
