Always next summer!
There, fixed it for you.
This can only mean one thing. Next summer, weâre replacing the whole front three with MbappĂ©, Haaland and Chiesa.
Always fun to see the idiots losing their shit about ânext summerââŠ
If you look at our all conquering world champions team (best 11ish)
Alisson, Trent, Robbo, Van Dijk, Matip / Gomez, Henderson, Fabinho, Gini, Salah, Mane, Firmino
Based on last and this summer⊠Weâve basically replaced Gini for Thiago, added Jota as a rotation and now have Konate as much more depth at center back.
So we are much stronger, with better depth (could be better). Our fringe players havenât changed much, and thatâs where we could/should do business this summer but I can also see why itâs dependant on shifting them out first.
I can see next summer being big, I expect weâll see a raft of contract renewals this summer and next weâll see some of that core leave (Firmino etc.) and big money signings coming in.
Add to the fact a full pre-season (and rest) for the core and fans back in the stadium⊠I expect us to go again.

No next summer weâll be holding out for the following summer because thereâll be doubts as to whether or not its the right time to fully commit to changes.
Why does next summer make me think of âThis time next year RodneyâŠâ
This! So much FM-esque doom-and-gloom. I think a lot of pundits etc. have fallen into the recency effect of looking only at the 2020-21 season which was an aberration. A lot of the hyped clubs are going to fall short massively and many of the unhyped clubs (us) will beat expectations.

If text size could be increased beyond 7 I would have continued indefinitely. Think this point should be made a million times, especially to those scared for the season ahead.
LFC form in 20/21 was as much about empty stands as it was about injuries.
Isnât Neil Jones ropey as best when it comes to news.
I still expect we will buy someone because I think a couple more players will leave and we probably need someone in the midfield/attack role.
Liverpool rarely do their business in the open this is why they put this stuff out. It felt much the same last season and then we sealed Thiago and bought Jota out of the blue. I donât think Klopp is overly concerned with bringing in someone who is a nailed on starter but someone who is an option and hence he may go late in the window
Literally dying here
He is like all journoâs bar maybe Joyce and Reddy completly unreliable.
I think you are right, Konate was the priority so we had Matip + Konate locked in all pre-season and ready for Norwich.
The attacker/midfielder arenât meant to be hitting the ground running so no major rush and clearly dependant on outgoings⊠Attacker wise I reckon they get 6 months to get up to speed in-season before the AFCON also.
And unless we bring in someone completly under the radar I fail to see an incoming midfielder who displaces Fabinho, Thiago and Henderson day 1âŠ
Not that I would actually want him here, but imagine the fume if we signed him on a free next summerâŠ

Iâd imagine neither of them would be set to play a massive role this season at all, if we bring them in. Weâre probably looking more at longer-term replacements of our ageing squad.
With regards to AFCON, I might be misremembering, but doesnât it last all of like 2 league games for us, from start to final? Iâd imagine the hit would not be that significant in that caseâŠ
AFCON isnât that much of an issue this time it seems, more concerned of losing Salah to the Arab cup as well.
Games Salah may miss due to Arab Cup
Everton (A) â November 30
Wolves (A) â December 4
CL MD 6
Aston Villa (H) â December 11
Newcastle (H) â December 15
Tottenham (A) â December 18Games Salah, Mane, and Keita may miss due to AFCON
Brentford (H) â January 15
Crystal Palace (A) â January 22
Leicester (H) â February 9
There
I did not actually know the Arab Cup existed. That is a lot of games missed for Salah. Mané had better be in red-hot form by then.
I canât find the post/link, but I have read that players has to be released two weeks before the start of AFCON. Arab Cup wasnât a very regular thing in the past. But this time FIFA has made it the preparatory tournament for WC22.

Gotta get the $$$âŠ
Yeah that is literally just dates that there are clashes in games, not a guarantee they wonât be with their national sides before and after those dates plus the added complications of quarantine periods. It will be negligent if at least one more (none AFCON) forward isnât added.
