The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

So if Pearce is right he’ll be joining Thiago as players who won’t be joining Sarr and Lewis at LFC this summer. Such a shame.

Still remains a reliable source. Haven’t seen enough yet on Kabak.

Does Daniel have the fitness to play football? If he has, would be a good option on the bench for the last 20 minutes. Brewster is running out of options, fast.

He only gets told what the club need him to put out in the media for them, which is usually all a game to help with negotiations. Him, Reddy and Joyce then get confirmation a day or two before a deal is being unveiled that we are making a deal for that player. He never really knows ahead of that anymore. Schalke could have just been leaking it for their own motivations in a similar way but did say there had been contact between the two clubs over him.

Edit: As I said above I think it will be a shortlist of CBs and it doesn’t necessarily have to be Him, but I do think the club will be trying to bring a CB in still. And Pearce saying we aren’t really doesn’t convince me at all.

I put the video here (again) as something odd was happening.
https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/1795911235604/schalke-defender-kabak-spits-on-opponent-after-fouling-him

There is no way I buy that it wasn’t intentional. If you watch the video, he intentionally takes him down with a foul, he looks right at him, he spits right at him, he moves away as if he knew exactly what he did - mission accomplished.

This right there tells me I don’t want him.
Honestly I’ve seen very little in his play the first few games of the year that suggest he is a top quality player. Now that spitting incident doesn’t make me think he’s a top top quality person.
I’d be a hard pass. He’ll find suitors if his game comes around, but be a hard pass on him…

I really don’t know how you possibly look at that video and say it was anything other than intentional. This should be a multiple game suspension.

After the poor play so far this year I was ready to say the same - but after the spitting incident I have now seen enough.

Looks deliberate to me.

Repeating myself - don’t care how he is performing at Schalke. Since I saw him at Stuttgart I think he is the best CB of his age group (born in 2000 and younger).

Maybe I shouldn’t post this but spitting at people you despise is such a turkish thing.

I’d be very suprised if we have the cash to buy him this summer,i’d imagine he’s been scouted and placed on every major clubs CB transfer shortlist (or atleast ones looking for a CB),apparently he’s signed a new contract till 2023 but next summer a Ā£40mill release clause in his contract kicks in.

From what i’ve read United had been trying to jump the cue to sign him and over pay now to get a chance at him, rather than miss out next summer when more clubs might come in for him.Hopefully he knocks them back and we have a crack at him next summer if Klopp truely wants him.

It’s still a deplorable act and one that is considered a punch by the Laws of the Game. In the current climate fo a pandemic, spitting is even worse. I don’t care if it’s a Turkish thing. He’s been playing in Germany for over a year now, and he knows it is unacceptable.

As for his time at Stuttgart (sorry had to edit as I wrote Schalke here by mistake)- he had a grand total of 15 appearances for them - not that many and that was against 2.Bundesliga opposition. Since he’s been in the top flight in Germany, he has not looked very good. Maybe he’ll get better, but right now he’s one of the worst on a bad team.

I thought it was a Urugayan thing

Deliberate. He could have apologised straight away if it wasn’t.

It’s just a figure of speech but yes it does sound funny in retrospect

The Athletic understands that Burnley submitted a bid this week for Wilson of around £12 million plus £4 million in add-ons and the two clubs are still in negotiations over a potential deal.

No wonder the kebab guy at my neighbourhood mall whenever i tried bargaining…

Ornstein:

No significant arrivals are anticipated at Liverpool but there should be some departures. Forward Rhian Brewster is coveted by the likes of Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United, with the Reds seeking a fee not too dissimilar to the £19 million Bournemouth paid them for Dominic Solanke in January 2019. Harry Wilson was recently the subject of enquiries from Burnley but the midfielder is one of several players the Clarets are considering and there has been no progress on that front.
