The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Because Robbo was put in a difficult situation by Keita and the conditions were slowing the passes down at grass level. Mind you Robbos poor right foot could possibly also be blamed. So many reasons. To be fair to Adrian it was his first pass so he did not have time to realise how slow the pitch was playing.

Right if we are selling Wilson to a Championship team, then i can see why Liverpool felt they could draw out the negotiations longer. I think he will be gone. The writing is on the wall. Especially with Shaq staying this window.

@costared that pre-match warmup thoā€¦

Alsoā€¦was the pitch playing slow? If it was, Adrianā€™s pass would have been even more beyond Gomez!

It was a shit pass by both, call it what it is.

Been a long time since we saw a match that poor. Letā€™s hope this break resets the lads

Jack Butland has been linkedā€¦

If he can rekindle the quality of old then he would be a decent keeper but god knows what he has been like in the few years, do wonder if this has surfaced after spending a week analysing Adrian or knowing the extent of injury to Becker.

Suggests it is a proper deal but this could even be a loan to buy or a loan, Iā€™m not sure how much he would fetch but I doubt it would be more than what we are paying a year for Thiago.

Irony of ironies is that he was being discussed as a replacement for Minglot and Karius, the saddest thing at this moment in time Iā€™d be more confident in a unknown in current form than in Adrian.

Oliver Holt has mentioned it so it probably has some legs.

We wouldnā€™t be able to use him in Europe even if we did bring him in as the squad list had to be submitted already and canā€™t be changed till the winter now. So not sure I believe it. Klopp would be saying to Adrian ā€œyouā€™re so awful Iā€™m bringing this other guy in to play domestic games instead of you when Ali is out, but I still need you in Europe games so please do your bestā€! Would be a hell of a challenge of people management. Ignoring questions of whether Butland can rescue his career or not, the potential to be a good keeper was there and may be still is but seems s gamble.

Championship is about right. He takes a good free kick but does little else.

Fucking hell. every time I watch the championship goals programme he lets piss poor shots in. Would love to see his shots to saves ratio.

I would prefer Krul over Butland. Krul is a very good keeper. I would take Adrian over Butland. Butland was at his peak when he played in the Premiership but after that havenā€™t heard much of him. Krul has always impressed me with his saves and concentration levels doesnā€™t drop much.

Funny you should say that, I couldnā€™t agree more. Iā€™ve done a complete reversal and I canā€™t believe Iā€™m going to post all this but I do believe Adrian is beginning to have the ā€œMou Affectā€ on me. Heā€™s been taking such a beating on social media for making that dumb video with his medals and many of his other goalkeeping follies and exploits. Yet, heā€™s such an arrogant villain that heā€™s almost becomeā€¦lovable? The level of his self UNawareness is almost commendable. The GIF of him running the opposite direction on Watkins shot that hits the crossbar is pure gold and 100% the essence of Adrian.

Fuck it, Iā€™ve decided Iā€™m just going to have fun with Adrian while Ali is out simply for the comedy and exploits. If we win ANY of these matches he starts then itā€™s all just a bonus. :joy::muscle:t3:

Upamecano.

Everyone seems convinced itā€™s Upamecano we should and will be after but Iā€™m just not convinced. I hate to get stat heavy but i think thereā€™s 3 that will really matter to us with a CB along with two physical traits of pace and being physically robust. The three stats being passing accuracy, aerial duels success rate and ground duels success rate. He shows about where we need on passing and around similar to Matip and Gomez on ground duels. But in the air heā€™s way behind VvD and Matip. Him and Gomez would be rather vulnerable to one of the main tactics opposition get left with to try against us. Gomez is already here and got many other great qualities along with being both home grown and club developed for squad building rules. Just for the price Upamecano will cost Iā€™m not sure we would willingly open up that can of worms. Kabak for instance made more sense beating Upamecano on both types of duels and being anywhere up to half the cost.

Liverpool have opened talks with Schalke about a Ā£20m New Year move for Turkey defender Ozan Kabak, 20, following the long-term injury to Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk. (Sunday Mirror)

Pearce a few things post-match last night:

I was told this week it was too early to say whether they will buy in January. Options are being assessed. Personally, I think signing a CB in the winter window is crucial.

To try to maximise Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£. They donā€™t want it to clash with another game and they think the Saturday night slot will get more subscribers. The whole PPV thing is ridiculous. Been a PR disaster for Premier League clubs. At a time when a lot of people are struggling financially, trying to get even more money out of people is wrong.

On Kristoffer Ajer: Not heard his name mentioned mate. Think Kabak/Upamecano more likely.

As long as Alisson stays fit itā€™s not a problem. The hope is that the only time Adrian or Kelleher are required between now and the end of the season will be in the FA Cup. Barring another injury to Alisson, Iā€™d imagine LFC will wait until next summer to decide whether to sign a new No 2 keeper.
