The Unreliable Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 2)

Im seeing the links now to Guehi and he is not someone Ive ever been particularly impressed with. Granted I havent seen much of Palace this year, especially since Viera left, but he has never looked anything other than a standard Chelsea grad - a solid PL player but one where its clear he didnt stick around. In contrast I watched Colwill for half a game and identified him as a much bigger prospect.

I am conscious I may have been judging him based on an expectation that he wouldnt be anything special though. Am I missing anything?

Bar sounding like an agent buffing up his client i donā€™t expect him here.

I find it very difficult to judge a player outside of a Klopp system mind. I thought FernƔndez was perfect but he looks bang average.

McAllister who I donā€™t think is par excellence but good will probably shine for us.

Iā€™ll trust the club in what it does if it doesnā€™t work then itā€™s the buck stops with the club.

Some rather unreliable links with Leipzigā€™s Szoboszlai but I hope that eventually he might be a target for Klopp. Heā€™s a brilliant young player, and reportedly a huge fan of Klopp to boot.

If Klopp really wants a versatile attacking midfielder, I think that heā€™d be a better or at least a more cost-effective option than Mount (who might swerve us anyway).

Aside from having to adapt to a completely different league, my worry would be that he suffered a severe injury a few years back but I think heā€™s been a regular for Leipzig since. Everything else about him as a football player is pretty good.

Iā€™d have him over Mount any day of the week, and twice on match days.

Same the guy is a top talent, depends how Klopp wants to play it but Iā€™d be after him.

Heā€™s one of those guys whose position isnā€™t clear, but seems well suited for and has at times played in the advanced left position in the midfield 4

Looks like your wish may be granted. It seems that Mount might now be leaning toward going to Man U.
More money? Probably.

Delighted.

Talented, but limited, player. Much better value to be had elsewhere.

Fine by me to be honest.

I know Macallister was being linked tenuously with them so perhaps confirms that deal for us.

Iā€™m beginning to think that the Mason Mount leaks were public negotiations by his agent to leverage a bigger deal for his client. Liverpool was never his intended destination. It was just a ā€˜drum up interestā€™ ploy by name dropping LFC. I kind of feel dirty and used. LOL. Well good riddance, I wasnā€™t a huge fan of Mount for Liverpool anyways.

I really didnā€™t see why we were so in for him, we are never that vocal and when other teams have leaked stuff weā€™ve often backed off.

Maybe there was something in Kloppā€™s bidding war quote but I reckon we had interest just not to the level some would let us believe.

Interesting quote from Szoboszlai 2 years back on Klopp. Of course he is also very easy on the eye.

Weā€™ve got the makings of his song there.

shades of keita ? strict no.

I genuinely donā€™t know. I think Keitaā€™s level was higher when I first saw him play but I also donā€™t remember him having any significant injuriesā€¦ Szoboszlai is a more attack-minded player, though, and I did a quick search on his injury history and, for what itā€™s worth, it seems like he hasnā€™t had any since the one that made him miss basically one whole season (2020/21).

Iā€™d slightly prefer Olmo, who is also in the last year of his deal. But really, I want proper midfielders this summer.

Never heard of him.
