I didnt say they should finish 18th you or some media decided 18th. It´s no surprise all the top clubs want Rayan, Scott, Kroupi etc.
And like I already told you, management is about so much more. Development, motivation, training, in game choices etc etc yada yada
Right so Grimsby beating Man U is all tactical but Pep beating Klopp wasnt? make your mind up
When have I ever said it is all tactical?
Klopp v Pep head to head.
Klopp 12 wins versus Pep 11 wins!
It was your point on Grimsby beating Utd. Tactics right?
And why didnt Pep´s tactical genius save him against Klopp in 1 to 1 games?
Now you see? Way more elements than tactics
Yes it was partly down to tactics as they got at Man U and Amorim’s tactics by persisting with his standard 3 4 3.
You are blurring the lines you said tactics are overrated and the best players usually win, I have mentioned lots of examples why tactics work and at no time have I mentioned that a coaches genius is down to ‘just tactics’
Pep had the best players, by value, but Klopps tactical setup and belief in it and his players helped him achieve far more than the sum of their parts.
But his 3 4 3 beat some other better teams than Grimsby. So likely lots of other factors played a part…
I am not blurring any lines. You are interpreting it as me saying tactics are irrelevant and that´s not at all what I said. You´re simplifying it that way
I think Klopp had a very comparable squad to be honest but a worst midfield and thats ultimately why they won 5 out of 6 or whatever.
My last reply to this.
You simplified it by saying:-
his modern obsession or over-emphasis on manager and tactics. Usually the best 11 players wins.
Who simplified things?
You.
You never asked me to qualify what over emphasis meant or how much of an over emphasis I consider it and what role tactics play.
You steamed in. Alright, that was your last reply so fair enough. Any mod can delete all this tbh as its not relevant
So many unreliable rumours I can’t keep up.

Here we go again. Another thread derailed by two people having a barney. Aided and abetted by one of the mods.

Sorrryyyyy, not a barney a discussion
No barney in my eyes. No bad feeling towards the guy and he was polite to me.
Happens on forums.
But yeah mods could delete it all.
@Liverdinner and @Sportbilly1966 admittedly it wasn’t a barney as such, but it did go on a bit and should have been in a different thread.
Anyway, any rumours out there? Ah, here’s one. It would seem that we are interested in van Hecke. Looks like Brighton are trying to get an auction going.

I read somewhere that Mateus Fernandes work ethics is questionable. Most other people seemed to like him a lot though.
I´m not sure about him tbh.
He does look good driving with the ball, he is quite quick and skilful but he also seems a bit like this generic hustle and bustle type midfielder that English fans in general love and that don´t tend to win much.
He is a good player, and young. Can´t make up my mind. If he can develop his passing game he could be very good.
Decent summary from his season at Wet Sham:

A bit of everything, rounded CM who moves, presses and passes well. Only 21 too…

The guy who missed one-on-one with Raya and effectively gave the title to Arsenal and got West Ham relegated!
On a more serious note, he reminds me of Enzo Fernandes minus the absolute unlikeability. A well-rounded, dynamic central midfielder blessed with excellent technical ability. That said, in my opinion, his best position would be the one that Szoboszlai occupies, so I think this link is just agent talk to pressure Man United into stumping up the cash.
