Don’t forget to add “exclusive” or “you heard it first here”.
I actually heard the same rumour from another (un)reliable source. You could be the next indykalla
I do think Huijsen is a bit further forward in his development, he is also listed on Transfermarkt as someone who can play both sides (that’s the only reference point though I have).
Though he also does look like an ex from my early 20s which does confuse me.
I don’t follow RM for obvious reasons, but has Huijsen been a flop there?
Sounds like he’s had a tough year, although flop might be a bit strong. I think the fans have been on his back a bit.
No doubt they’ll be incredibly happy when Konate puts on a defensive masterclass for them next season.
Huijsen is a good player and will go on to have a good career. The move to Real Madrid probably came a bit early and in some ways he is a victim of them overall falling behind Barcelona. They might sell, or he might become a mainstay. My money is on the former, as Mourinho tends to go for experience at the back, so Huijsen will either be sold or will be a rotational option for a while.
If he is sold would we be interested?
Maybe, depends on the price and how Iraola sees it. In an ideal world we would spread the ages out a bit, as Huijsen, Jacquet and Leoni are all close in age, not to mention the three younger central defenders we have who will be looking to snap at the heels soon enough.
It feels like we need someone in their mid to late 20s to manage the ages of the group, but what do I know! Quality, price and availability will probably rule the day.
Missed out on that young German DM
Not gonna be ready for the first team anytime soon. May not even develop along the same trajectory. Just look at poor Bajcetic.
I can’t remember who said it here but paraphrasing them, there are a LOT more talented players and top tier-level talent waiting to burst through than there are top clubs.
We can absolutely put together a stellar TEAM without always having to compete against the usual suspects.
I would have probably stayed at Hertha if I were him but Bayer seems a sensible move too.
I wouldn’t say flop, that’s a harsh word to use for a player that age, but very up and down from what I saw. This time last year he looked like he could potentially be a starter for Spain in the world cup, but in the end he didn’t even get selected for the squad.
Yeah, 16 is such a nothing age in terms of where we are at.
He´s miles away from being ready to come in and boss it right now. And by the time he is ready, if he ever is, there will be 5 other players we could buy.
Signing talented teenagers is good in general but we need established quality ready to have that breakout big season.
One advantage of Huijsen is that he wouldn’t run off to Real at the first opportunity.
Presumably.
Remember, this is the bunch that voted Modrić their worst signing in his first season there and wanted him sold. I think Huijsen will become a massive player for them but I wouldn’t mind Trent and Konate flopping hard there because I’m like that, you know.

Thanks to the outstanding relationship between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen, a relationship I have consistently highlighted throughout the Florian Wirtz negotiations, an agreement has now been reached between all parties involved regarding the future of Kennet Eichhorn, exactly as anticipated and reported yesterday.I reported yesterday that Liverpool’s objective was never in doubt and that the club would continue exploring alternative structures should legal, regulatory and contractual complexities make the original pathway more difficult, and that has now proven to be the case. The agreed solution will see Eichhorn join Bayer Leverkusen permanently on paper rather than through the initially discussed loan structure, allowing all parties to navigate the relevant considerations while preserving Liverpool’s long-term objective of eventually bringing the player to Anfield.
Central to the agreement is a future release clause mechanism specifically designed to protect Liverpool’s long-term position, with the club securing contractual assurances that provide a clear and realistic pathway to complete the transfer at a later stage despite Eichhorn becoming a Bayer Leverkusen player in the meantime. The release clause will only become active once the player reaches the age of nineteen, at which point Liverpool will be able to trigger the agreed mechanism should they wish to proceed, a provision those familiar with the structure describe as the most important aspect of the entire agreement, ensuring the club retain a clear route towards a player they continue to value exceptionally highly.
From Liverpool’s perspective, the outcome is viewed extremely positively, because rather than abandoning the pursuit due to difficulties surrounding the signing-on fees and compensation structures being sought by the player’s camp, the club have effectively secured a delayed pathway towards the same objective they have pursued from the outset. Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, receive one of Germany’s most highly regarded young talents and, as I can now exclusively reveal, also received important assurances regarding Jarell Quansah as part of the broader relationship between the two clubs, with Liverpool agreeing that they do not intend to activate the buy-back clause currently included in the defender’s contract, further highlighting the strength of the relationship between the two clubs. Everything about this outcome reflects the trust established between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen over recent years, with all parties leaving discussions satisfied and Eichhorn retaining every opportunity to fulfil his long-term dream of one day playing at Anfield.

Long term attempt at being proven right.
He will be at Bayern if he is any good in 2032.
All of that waffle looks like ChatGPT to me
I do wonder if Huijsen could be a loan to buy option if we really pushed for it. I can’t see Mourinho going with a young option like him and so getting him out the way becomes a job they need to do but they’ve essentially replaced him in the squad for free.
We get Andoni to butter him up and tell him he’ll be a key player with the chance to learn alongside one of the best to ever do it. Huijsen buys in and we tell Madrid they can get their money next summer because we’ve business to do this.
Real’s back line has had no stability at all this season. Huijsen has had an even more inexperienced player to left, a lunatic to his right and fuck knows what to Rudiger’s right. It was not a great season for him, but he played, a lot, and will surely be better for it. In terms of Jose, even with Konate’s addition he doesnt have great alternatives so unless he falls foul of Jose picking a fight with him I’d expect him to still have to play a good amount.
Beyond that though, despite our prior interest in him, I cannot see that being the profile of the CB we’d be interested in this summer with the addition of two other relatively inexperienced CBs in the past two summers
Let’s see if there’s a reasonable release clause for Eichhorn that activates when he’s 18 or 19. Seemed to make more sense for him to stay in Germany and develop for a couple more years before making a big move here.
Yeah I said the post yesterday smelt of AI.
