The Austrian we bought at a fraction of the price? Ouch. Would love you to be right but with Jacquet also proving a success.
That one was protracted for reasons that I dont remember, but it was widely reported weād finalized terms with his club well before the tournament started and even before our interest in Sadio was known
Those 3 young CBs (not Jacquet) are not first team players. They were all brought in as part of a strategy of bolstering the academy sides with external talent
I use DataMB. They mostly organize things by a percentile compared to other players in the same position. Below is his graph which shows him as bottom 15% for defensive duels won %, around the 50th% for aerial win %. Bottom 12% for progressive passes. Interestingly he is very high on total win for defensive duels and aerial duels but low on the rate of wins so I think youād have to watch Midtjylland play to see why that is happening. If theyāre just getting bombed with long balls heās going to win a lot in total even if heās bad at winning them in comparison to other defenders.
What I couldnāt tell you is whether fotmob or dataMB are more reliable, not a clue.
Knowing a bit about Scandy football having played with a bunch of Danes and Swedes, Iād imagine heās also commonly coming up against forwards made in a lab to win long balls. So while the overall standard in the league may not be great you would maybe expect a win rate for even an excellent defender to be a bit lower there than in other leagues

Interesting because it looks different on Fotmob

Yes and CB has become something of a focus. Iām not sure exactly what the strategy is but it is clear Liverpool have identified a need to recruit more CBs than really are required.
Currently we haveā¦
U21s
- Ifeanwe Ndukwe
- Noah Adekoya
- Wellity Lucky
- Amaro Nallo
- Mor Talla Ndiaye
- Carter Pinnington
- Luke Chambers (started as a CB at least, played as a LB in the Championship last season)
U18s
- Prince Cisse
- Lucas Clarke
- Harvey Owen
- Harry Moran

Hope he doesnāt get targeted by the rabid royal haters on here
Djibrilās son
I think he likely has a big role to play as our most likely alternative through the middle to Isak. But while I donāt believe the stories, the general principle should be that itās a fresh start and no one should be kept who doesnāt want to be part of it
I thought I read a rumour Amaro and Wellity are going out on loan. And Pinnington is being sold to West Brom.
Who is that?
have you seen much of jacquet? I do think it was on an odd signing given we have Leoni
I think Bouaddi was the guy Josh Williams was talking favouarably about a few days ago on the Anfield Wrap and as being his preferred target..i think he compared him as being like Busquets.
I think he“s a bit more progressive than a Busquets.
Maybe a Modric potentially.

I think the clubs strategy has always looked at building out squad depth with young talent, weāve just not had the cash or opportunity to do so before now.
Jacquet also somewhat fits into @Sweeting 's theory on squad building for Andoni as jacquets strengths are reportedlly in bringing out the ball and winning tackles/ pressing in midfield which sounds like it fits with his pressing system.
I assume that when Hughes asked Iraola who his preferred midfield signing was, he said āanybodyā, but being unfamiliar with his Basque accentā¦
I think you broke a speed record for post-to-cringe there @redfanman lol
Yeah maybe so but we need first teamers and he was quite expensive
maybe he is ready to start but we already signed Leoni who looks great so for me I am surprised we put that money there,
