The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

He would be our 6th CB.

Tie down Konate to a longer deal.

Get upemacano and Guehi in free’s the next summer.

Fuck off real , they are kopites now.

Not really convinced by Upamecano. When he was bursting on the scene he looked good, but as the years have progressed he hasn’t really lost the rashness of youth. If he played for us he would be on a yellow every game.

Watching Guehi, he has a lot of hallmarks of Virg apart from the physical aspect, he is calm and unflustered, good on the ball, very hard to beat 1 v 1 and seems positionally strong and covers others very well.

Hope we get him.

More you think about the Joyce tweet the more it seems that boat has sailed.

I really hope not, as the more I watch him the more I rate him.

I don’t see a lot of similarities with Virgil, but I’m interested in the potential of a partnership with him. That might be very good for Virgil to have alongside him in probably the last chapter of his career at the top level. Plus, Guehi would be playing at RCB for perhaps the first time in his career. Where he might even be better than at LCB (due to him being comfortable on the left and the lack of a ā€œVirgilā€, he’s been doing that for teams he’s played so far, club and country).

He has the same calmness, very rarely gets beaten 1 v 1 and positionally is very good maybe better than Virg. If you haven’t seen that then you ain’t watching what I am

Mo has had no success down that side against Palace, between Guehi & Mitchell

We should be looking at La Croix. He is better than Guehi.

The way he’s playing at the moment, he’s a liability. One good match followed by five bad ones. Cash up in Jan for whatever we can get.

If he’s jealous of Virgil’s earnings, let him be jealous.

He’s good, but he’s not that good.

No player can get anything.

If we don’t come to an agreement and there’s Real waiting around the corner, we part ways and that’s it.

Yup VVD was waiting on a contract last year he was consummate professional and delivered on the pitch and he got one, he has continued to deliver this season.

And spend the money on Guehi? I’m not sure we’d get enough to even make this a wash. I think if/once it becomes clear he won’t re-sign, the priority should be to work on deals to bring in 2 CBs by the summer while keeping him for the remainder of the season.

Mo, Virgil and Trent were in the last year of their contracts, now Konate is doing the same. Mo and Virgil had the strength of mind to not let it show on the pitch, Trent however did not, and now it’s the same with Konate. I thinks it’s important for a player to have strength of mind.

On his day he’s a brilliant CB, one of the world’s best. But when he’s bad he’s really bad. The big bucks that Virg is on demand consistency. If he can’t provide that then I think we should let him go

This is revisionist history. The one-time TAA really looked like he was mentally elsewhere, was the game against Manure at Anfield. Otherwise, he had the same highs and lows that he usually had every season.

The same is true about Konate. This is hardly the first time he’s had a run of awful performances.

He was generally quite poor last season if I’m honest.

I don’t think it was all to do with the contract but the players do need to step up, Salah was always a bit meh after a new contract for example.

The only team desperate enough to pay for a player in January that they could get for free in 5 months time is us. And we’re probably not in a position to sell anyway.

Tremendous footballer. Has schooled our midfield twice already this season.
