Camavinga’s certainly not crap all of a sudden, depends also how you use him and if he’s in form. The status of some Real midfielders changed from time to time. I still like him. But whether he should be our target is another question.
And I see zero point in Ndiaye. Good player who has done well even when shifted out to the opposite side to accomodate Grealish on the left. But with the current players we have and our struggle to find a winning combination of it, I don’t see what we’d do with him.
I’m aware though that we might do some business even before we find total sense with the current crop. Plus, our situation in defence. I’m not sure if we will sign a defender in January, maybe if there’s one more big injury, hopefully not.
I think we will get a CB in January, be it Guehi or Schlotterbeck(?). Konate appears to be the effort in only when he thinks he’s in the shop window. He needs to compete for his place at the very least.
He is, he’s either Haaland’s direct backup or playing as a second striker, sometimes also off the sides, but not as a classic winger. Stylistically not too dissimilar to Alvarez and also in the same role.
Absolutely need a CB in the January window. We are one injury away from another crisis there. I can see the reasoning to not sign one if our primary target is unavailable or if we want to wait to get one free, as in the case of Guehi. But as we’ve learned in the past, that is a huge risk.
Yep, saw that. It’s a strange one. Man City is a bit of a graveyard for back up strikers to Haaland. The system they play puts it all through Haaland, and the likes of Alvarez and now Marmoush don’t get much of a look in.
Semenyo might buck the trend at City, but at Liverpool there is a clear path opening up in an emerging side that looks like it will phase out Mo Salah.
If we don’t sign a winger in January I can live with it, as watching Dom in the half space yesterday looked like something worth repeating. Still, if we are going to play with wingers we look a bit short to me.
The main need is a central defender. Hopefully Guehi, but if he is keeping his options open to see what Bosman brings, it needs to be someone else. We don’t have enough there. Van Dijk should start to get a built in rest on occasion, Konate has been off form and picks up injuries, while Gomez is a good player who unfortunately can’t stay fit for a reliable amount of time.
I think both, I do like players with pace, saying that there are players that are defensively good that lack pace, Macca is one but mainly in a compact midfield shape.
Fab was similar in that Hendo and Gini would shepherd the traffic into Fab’s zone for him to hoover up interceptions. But as you said, that sort of system works when all parts are working.
He’s never really settled at Real, but he’s just not really a very sophistocated player, even accounting for his youth. He’s played a good number of games for them, but rarely has had more than a couple in a row in his favoured deep mid role.
He’s still sneaky young and plenty of even more experienced players have had a great second life after getting bounced out of Real, but most of his fans are judging him on name and potential than performances.
