Yeah, they are miles ahead of us
Anyone else hearing that Semeydo to City is pretty much done - not that they need him.
Not sure why they would go for another attacker. Then again itâs City. ![]()
Only thing Iâd question about Semenyo is heâs about to turn 26. Bit of a late bloomer.
I think Iâd rather find an alternative anyhow, Kerkez at least has age on his side. Doesnât particularly seem like an Edwards type buy.
Well we can offer him CL football this season. At least 4 games of it if not more.
Age wouldnât be the issue for me with Semenyo at all, turning 26 is certainly not too old, not even for our recruitment policy. We will make exceptions here and there, not every signing we make will be under the age of 24.
Isak and Guehi are of similar age. Though for someone who will turn 26, itâs true he doesnât have much experience at the top level. Then you can make the argument that he doesnât have a lot of miles in his legs and he can really push on, plus what might be unlocked if he plays for a more dominant side.
Itâs more whether his overall game is rounded enough to be a protagonist for a top side and if itâs what we need, put together with other players around him, would it be a good fit. Salahâs future might also come to it, we have no idea what will happen there. I think it would mean the definite end for Chiesa and his return to Italy, probably next summer.
As for City, at first, you can say they donât need him. But if you look closely, the likes of Rodri and Kovacic struggling to return, meaning some players are now fully used as midfielders, Fodenâs season central between the lines, Savinho nearly leaving last season (although signed a new contract, but question also what deal he was on straight from Girona)⌠it does leave a competition spot in forward areas.
Dunno something doesnât sit with me with him. Isak also at least had European football experience.
My concern is Bournemouth just fits him and Man City have done this with other players that evidently are a bit flashy at one side but return the norm when the move.
I donât think Man City wanting a player is particularly a good guide.
I dont watch as much as you, especially Semenyo, but i thought his value to us is more his industry and potential link up with Kerkez (i know other people see him more as competition for Mo, ), particularly when we have overloaded the squad with piano players?
The athletic did a really nice piece a few months ago explaining away his relatively late emergence. I dont remember the details but the take home was it represented a big of a blind spot for the academy system and the people he did work with were absolutely certain he would be good enough if he ever got his chance given his pretty obvious talent and attitude.
I think the main thing for us us his tenacity. Heâs not a hot head, as he showed with the dignity of his response to the abuse he got at Anfield this season, but heâs tenacious and indefatigable
Does anyone know how much Southamptonâs Sadio Mane would cost with todayâs inflation taken into account?
That might be the sum of money weâre looking at these days. I donât have any issues with Liverpool signing Semenyo for that kind of money in isolation but when taking all the money spent last summer into consideration, it kind of worries me.
To be fair, Mane and Salah were bought before PSG and Barca broke the transfer market.
Theyâve said this a lot and you are getting 2 in his 26,27 and 28th year.
With Alexander Isak potential long term injury, there has to be a chance that Liverpool MAY now be forced to move in the January transfer window.
Antoine Semenyo, who has a ÂŁ65million release clause, is admired by Liverpool.

openthreadworthy?
Dobson in the Guardian saying weâve agreed personal terms with Semenyo
I have really good feeling about this one.
Well, weâll have to sign another forward now, if Isak is going to be out for a while and Slot clearly doesnât rate Chiesa.
Reminds me a bit of Kerkez that, I reckon it probably happens relatively quickly into Jan.
I wonder what Amorim told Semenyo, that he sees him competing at both wing back sides, both #10âs and up top.
