The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 4)

Jones leaving now wouldn’t make sense at all, some of his recent form merited a starting place. Elliott isn’t a factor here (I know that could mean Szobo being used more deeper, but then you lose his pressing and covering aspect). We might eye a midfielder in the summer if we get some money for Endo in the last year of his deal. Depending on who the coach is…

He is Scouse, homegrown and he is actually having a good season. He has stabilised the midfield by performing well in his role as a deeper lying midfielder. Not sure if we should expect anything more beyond that given that he doesn’t have the freedom to roam forward.

For me, selling Jones would be a stupid move and a further indicator that we’re lacking direction.

By comparison, Gravenberch has 7 goal involvements in just under 2200 minutes.

Gravenberch is allowed to go forward. He has also vacated his area of responsibility numerous times which has led to conceding goals and chances.

Those lovely wads of shitty money helped him change his mind, that’s what it was about all along.

We’re seriously having a conversation about selling Curtis Jones?

It doesn’t make any sense. It’s his best season, he has been quietly becoming very influential, and not only is he homegrown, he is homegrown is a squad in which the lack of homegrown players is causing a problem.

Not a chance if that happens then I have overestimated Hughes nous.

It was something that started going around SM yesterday with different variations on what stage of development the conversations were.

On what grounds would he, a local lad and passionate Liverpool fan, even contemplate moving to Spurs…?

Apropos of nothing in particular, but playing for a manager you dont like, feel doesnt like you, or you just generally dont jive with is soul crushing.

Is there some suggestion Jones doesn’t like Slot? Have I missed something?

As I said only makes sense if say we were purchasing Wharton or someone

I think Wharton is on our shopping list, but the sensible outgoing in this situation would be Mac Allister.

I got no idea where to put this though…

It’s definitely an unreliable rumour, but not a transfer

I’d been reading through a few related rumours. Lots just pop @marca at the end to give some “authenticity”. IndyKaila added it an hour ago with “Exclusive” a couple of hours after others were reporting it..

Can’t see any proper reference to Marca though, or anything on the Marca website.

The Jones rumor is a strange one. Home grown, local lad, good player, having a decent season, and he also seems to be one of only a few so far who is on a similar wavelength with Wirtz.

You never say never, but we would need another home grown midfielder, presumably someone who is going to boss it in the defensive midfield role like Wharton or Anderson.

Just thinking out loud, but with Crystal Palace falling apart a bit - Guehi gone, Glasner outspoken and going, Mateta linked with a move - maybe we see a ‘market opportunity’ to make a move for Wharton, who likely won’t want to be on a sinking ship for too much longer.

As Mascot noted, Mac Allister makes more sense as a possible exit to bring in one of the aforementioned.

Strange times. And we still need a central defender. As a matter of urgency!

I can’t believe that a Liverpool lad who wants to captain the club would want to move to another club.

I think it’s bollocks but if it happens, then ‘Hughes out!’.
