The Unreliable Transfer Rumours Discussion Thread (Part 5)

I might even stay tuned tomorrow, now that odious little cunt Jim White is gone

It could be said that we have 3-4 signings in this window if you count Jacquet and Araujo.

I think we won’t know the answer to that until we see what Iraola can do with this squad. He wanted wingers, and he’s been given two. We’re not going to replace Salah, who is in the top five players in our entire history, but we have now four good options to provide with and service the two forward players, a little lopsided though they are. And maybe that’s enough to be going along with.

I think Jacquet will end up an improvement on Konate, although it’s early days. And we got the fifth centre back Gomez’ fitness and the slow recovery of Leoni demanded.

The experience of Robertson leaves a hole, but Kerkez was rightly first choice last year and we know that Tsimikas can be a decent deputy. There is no change at Right Back, but we really need Bradley to find some consistency of form and fitness. And we added a bit more depth in the position through Araujo.

It’s centre midfield where we look like we might have weakened ourselves. I really like Nyoni, but if Iraola feels he can’t give Trey the minutes Jones would get (and I think we’d have seen more of Jones in the first two games than we’ve seen of Trey) then that’s a problem. Personally I want to see Nyoni start against Ipswich. He is 19 years old, and that’s not an unreasonable age to start getting serious minutes.

Fabrizio Romano has given the here we go for Lucca Brughmans. Deal for 35m euros/30m pounds. That’s a big chunk of change for an 18 year old GK even if he is a wonderkid.

Perhaps this means bye bye to Mamardashvili soon.

Maybe not this window, but is he willing to wait until Alisson is ready to go?

Leoni could come into that category too, he only lasted one game. Isak wasn’t many as well.

I hope so

I think this is a deal the club are going to revisit in January. Keeping Gakpo is a sensible decision because our squad is short of players but it doesn’t address the imbalance of the side, nor the glaring hole that right wing position has become since Salah’s drop off in form.

I was in a vaguely happy mood this morning because the transfer window is closed.

It’s not until tonight, is it?

If it’s any comfort it closes at 11pm so not the whole night

That’s probably (and unfortunately) next summer but I feel the question is, if Alisson goes next summer, are we happy to let Mama be our new number 1? If we’re not it is likely best to move him on then anyway and get a new keeper as number 1.

Won’t happen now, and I suspect by January/the summer we’ll be all in on Rayan. His chance has gone.

Fixed

I know its this clown but…

Chelsea are working on potential options should Enzo Fernandez move to Manchester City on Deadline Day.

Sky Sports News understands they have an interest in Roma’s Manu Kone and Monaco’s Lamine Camara.

So a team with a 50man strong squad replaces one outgoing player immediately with an incoming…yet we have not managed to do anything in the middle of the pitch…

I’m generally a positive person with unlimited love for my LFC, but this transfer window is blowing my brains out. One must feel sorry for AI and the rest of the team.
But…we all know that they will never walk alone when it comes to the true LFC-support.

From Vinny O’Conner (Sky Sports News) this morning.

Sky Sports News reporter Vinny O’Connor at the AXA Training Centre:

"Liverpool have got something to celebrate by getting the Barcola deal over the line for a fee that could rise to as much as ÂŁ123m.

"What we were told in terms of other incomings for wide players was that it was a pretty fluid situation. We know Liverpool made an approach to Palace for Sarr and before that they made an approach to Brighton for Minteh.

"We also know it looks like Gakpo is now going to stay, so it looks like they are not going to explore any other positions like full back or a defensive midfielder.

“So it looks like they are going to stick with what they have got.”

Glad its almost over, even if i feel we are short in squad depth. Going to be a bit like Klopp’s early seasons…lots of goals for and against

I hope it’s not over, but I also hope there are no “Andy Carroll” level of stupidities in the final hours.
